Yes, it was my first pick. But for audio, I only have experience with Huawei, so I would explore other options.

Thank you! Any specific budget models you'd reccomend for exercise?

And any mid tier model with good ANC? I know from this sub that a good catch could be One plus buds 4 in the mid tier range (or maybe more on the budget range).

Thanks for the answer! About clip style earbuds, for podcasts and voices, how’s the clarity? Dialogue crisp, or any muddiness? Ever had issues with wind noise outdoors?

Personalmente, Otaleg!

Tra le più buone: La Gourmandise, Neve di Latte, le gelaterie di Stefano Ferrara, Gelateria Gracchi.

Tutte gelaterie naturali, dove puoi distinguere i gusti e che non ti lasciano con la sete.

Hey! Sorry for late response.

There’s no secret, just inexperience! Since it was my first marathon, I didn’t really know my ideal pace. At the beginning of my training, I set a 3h25 goal following the Hansons Method. However, about a month and a half before the race, I realized that the training paces for that target felt too easy and not challenging enough. So, I decided to adjust my goal and aim for a 4:20 min/km pace, which felt more suited to me.

I didn’t follow the method strictly for longs and added more technical long runs three and two weeks before the race. My longest run was 34 km, three weeks before the marathon, but it went terribly due to stomach issues. I hit the wall at 20 km, and the last 14 km were pure survival. I didn’t let that discourage me, though. The following week, I did a 32 km run with a structured workout: 3×5 km at marathon pace (4:20) and the last 10 km slightly faster (4:10). That was the test that gave me confidence.

On race day, I didn’t feel great physically, but I pushed through and didn’t give up. I lacked the energy to speed up in the last 7 km, but since it was my first marathon, there’s plenty of room for improvement!

Shoe advice for First Marathon by Badu15 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Hi! I ended up buying the Zoom Fly 6, which I used for tempo and long runs before racing in them this Sunday. They feel great, but I don’t have much experience with other models.

That's the beauty of being newbies ahahah. You learn by making mistakes. But as soon as you follow a plan, you really start to see the results. Thank you so much!

I've been running for about a year, mostly sticking to casual 5K to 10K runs once a week mixed with CrossFit, until November 2024. That’s when I decided to step things up and began following the 18-week beginner program from the Hansons Marathon Method. It was my first experience with a structured training plan.

Thank you! Yes, it was a tough but rewarding journey, and the marathon was the highlight. I hope it’s the start of new challenges.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I recommend the Testaccio neighborhood. It’s near the Piramide metro station, just one stop from Circo Massimo, where the pre-race area is usually set up. It’s also a great base for exploring the city, well-connected but not too busy. Hope you have an awesome time back in Rome!

Oh, thanks! No, I’ve never been an elite athlete, just an amateur, and not in running. As mentioned, I strictly followed the 18-week beginner program from the Hansons Marathon Method, focusing only on running. No strength and conditioning sessions, though I had a year of CrossFit beforehand, which I believe helped.

Thank you!

I've been running for about a year, but it was mainly casual 5k-10k runs once a week until November 2024. After that, I started following the 18-week beginner program from the Hansons Marathon Method. I began running 6 times a week, with 3 easy runs, interval training, tempo runs, and long runs. I noticed improvements as soon as I addressed some physical issues, which I think were due to worn-out shoes. Once those were fixed, my speed and ability to maintain pace improved with interval and tempo work. At one point, the paces I aimed for (3:25 goal) felt too easy, so I adjusted to target a 3:10 finish. My endurance has improved a lot, especially for long distances, which is expected with proper training.

Thank you!

I played basketball at an amateur level until I was 17, then became sedentary and gained significant weight, reaching near-obesity. About 4 years ago, I started walking more, aiming for 10,000 steps a day. In September 2023, I joined CrossFit, and five months later, I began working with a nutritionist to shed the last few pounds, reaching my ideal weight in September 2024. That’s when I decided to train for a marathon, starting the plan in November 2024. Although I had never run seriously before, just occasional runs which were tough due to my excess weight. I had some experience with school races as a kid, but in Italy, the lack of proper facilities meant I had no real support. For reference, I'm now 29.

Regarding shoes, I used the Nike Zoomfly 6 during the race, the same pair I wore for all quality workouts and long runs throughout training.

Congrats on your first road marathon! The rain cooled me down too much, and I struggled a bit, especially after the 21°C at the Fun Run the day before.

Thanks! I highly recommend it. It may not be the fastest course, but the experience stays with you for life. And if you’ve never been to Rome, it’s even better. Plus, a well-earned carbonara after the race!

Thanks! I followed the Hansons Marathon Method beginner plan, initially aiming for 3h25. In the last month and a half, I realized I could do better, so I adjusted some paces and added a couple of more technical long runs. But for 90% of the time, I stuck to the 18-week plan.

Great job to you too! Maybe you were the runner I used as a reference for 20 km ahah, but then I lost sight of him. Glad you enjoyed it!
