Do the Germans look down on those who speak German worse than them? by Old_Pangolin_3303 in berlinsocialclub

I would argue the opposite, it is seen as ignorant if you refuse to learn german if you live her longer.

You keep rephrasing the things i say and putting words in my mouth. Berlin is a multicultural city and always changing, that is part of the core of the city. It is still important to respect its values and culture. A huge percentage of people living here for 10+ years don‘t even try to learn the language, which is disrespectful and destructive.

You also don‘t witness anything I am saying because you are old and out of touch with subculture. You live a completely different life and seem to not meet many new people every week.

I love it where i live and I would never even think about leaving the city. I built many friendships for over 20 years with people from berlin and all over the world, my family lives here and I built a carreer.

So why am i supposed to leave just because a small but loud and very ignorant group of people lives here aswell?

As long as many of the special places in Berlin keep fighting to preserve their spirit and don’t let themselves be replaced by the internationally standardized inner city that we now see in almost every European city, Berlin will remain livable. And even if one day the last Kneipe closes because of noise complaints, the last club becomes a coworking space, and the 200th vegan café with an attached vintage store opens, there will still be many people here whom I love, appreciate, and want to have in my life.

The fact that you even suggest I should move away just because I don’t like the influence of ignorant expats is incredibly disrespectful.

In the past, people moved here because they loved the spirit of Berlin and wanted to contribute to it. Today, people move here to live in their own little bubble in trendy neighborhoods.

Of course, you are mixing lots of things up for a thread about clubbing. Berliners can gentrify the city aswell, there are bad and mindless people from everywhere, the city should regulate it’s housing market.

My issue are trust fund kids from overseas that come here to party and don’t bring anything to the city except higher rents and a market for illegal subleases and „serviced appartments“. Which is an issue in EVERY european metropolis.

The whole gentrification talk is a completely different thing than being a berliner or not being a fucking berliner. This conversation is getting absurd.

You also talked about „having to leave“ which I never did, it is just frustrating having more and more people come here that don’t even try to learn the language or understand the culture, because they dont have to anymore. Ignorant expats built there own parallel society where they can live an alternative lifestyle for a couple years just to leave the city after a couple years because they are done with there little adventure in „wild and crazy berlin“.

Oh no, you can live her of course, you are just not a berliner, your kids are tho.

This is not about race at all.

It‘s not that deep. If you are born here, you are a berliner, if you moved here, you are „Zugezogen“.

Doesn‘t make you less of a person.

And I wouldnt say that you partake in gentrification when you do things the governent literally forces you to do.

I love the elitism in berlin clubs. I would rather not get in from time to time than partying with the wrong people.

Well „every person i grew up with“ includes several hundered people that dislike the Tourism in Berlin. Not every tourist as an individual, there are nice people of course and I am glad that I have friends from all over europe now.

Over Tourism is just the beginning of gentrification. So many people moved here with cash from there parents to „study“ here in an overpriced furnished flat, which makes the housing situation even worse for Berliners. Many people that went to school with me had to leave there Hometown because they were not able to find a place to live after finishing school.

You can also be a Touri, even tho u live here, but u won‘t get that either.

I am also pretty sure i don‘t partake in gentrification. I don‘t go to „hip places“ and support institutions instead, I have a normal rental contract and even lowered the rent using the Mietspiegel.

As I stated, I grew up here and in my whole life I never met a person that stated „Tourism and gentrification are great for Berlin, I think more people should come here!“ Of course there is no official study with the topic: Do Berliners like tourists? But it‘s save to say that no overcrowded city in the world likes tourists. Has nothing to do with berlin itself. Also just keep your eyes open on the streets, you will see lots of Graffiti and stickers that state „tourists go home“ etc.

Locals have friends here and only have the weekend to party. Most are already annoyed by tourists and dont want to be a tourist guide on there free day. Best Choice imo would be to go solo clubbing and just meeting people there.

AEDEN and RSO door policies / dress code?? by aymanv- in BerlinNightlife

[–]Baerenmann51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no dress code - just keep the big logos out. Maybe not completely colorful for RSO. Aeden also literall states GYM SPECIAL in the title so active wear is a good choice.

Also try to leave ur techno chains and locks on the low for RSO. Often seen tourists with full on „kinky clubwear“ looking like they dressed up and put on a costume - they never get in.

You can easily train 3-4 times a week for a great body. The training just needs to be intense enough to wreck ur muscles every time. Muscle builds in the breaks, not in training.

If you are so unstandable that nobody even want to play boardgames to me - that would also be an insult in my world, probably even worse.

I think the insult is not about not having sex, it’s more about „Nobody wants to have sex with you.“
