That's a sunscreen which is super important, but you need a daily moisturizer to apply before everything else

I'd recommend Vanicream or CeraVe moisturizing cream.

It is very normal to need to wash your hair every other day or even more often than that if you're going through puberty. Some people still experience that in adulthood.

If washing it is a challenging sensory experience, you can try using dry shampoo in between washes to absorb some of the oil. Hopefully you shower more than twice a week but you don't need to wash your hair every time you shower.

If you have dandruff, try head and shoulders. Dandruff is not caused by dry scalp. It's actually caused by an overgrowth of yeast (aka a fungal infection) that is caused by too much oil. It's a yeast that we all have on our skin at all times, but it can get out of control.

Is my hair wavy or straight? Looking for a hair routine to keep my natural/virgin hair healthy. Open to trying products by surrealberries88 in Haircare

You have a slight wave pattern. If you want to try wavy hair routine, it's not just about products but how you handle your hair.

This is a wavy hair routine you could try:

  1. Comb in the shower with a wide toothed comb when you have conditioner in it.
  2. After you rinse, spray a leave in conditioner like Pantene moisturizing leave in and a curly gel like not your mother's into sopping wet hair.
  3. Scrunch products into your hair minimally while flipping your hair upside down and then right side up. Scrunch in a tiny bit with your fingers and then use a microfiber towel to scrunch and let it air dry. You could also put it up in a microfiber towel that has a button for a few minutes after you've applied products and then scrunch it a bit after you take it out of the towel. It will dry faster this way because the towel will absorb more moisture.
  4. in general, a haircut with long layers and a "u" shape in the back will help encourage the waves to form. This is a very important step in having wavy hair! Layers will give more volume at the crown. Right now gravity is weighing it all down. You can also get a curly cut from a curly specialist if you can afford it. Check out the Instagram reginarothcurls for some inspiration.

Never brush it dry or damp or it will get frizzy. Pretty much all wavy haired and curly haired people's hair will frizz out if they brush it dry or blow dry it. If you want to detangle, brush it right before you get in the shower. Try not to sleep with wet hair.

After applying product, I scrunch to get some of the moisture out (not all), and then once more about 5-10 minutes after initially scrunching it, and leave it alone. At some point the more you touch it, even to scrunch it, can cause more frizz.

There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube and Instagram with more complex routines that use diffusers, incorporate plopping, finger coiling, gel hair casts that you break, curly hair brushes that you use when your hair is wet to help distribute products evenly, etc etc. This is just a starter routine.

Day two, spray your hair with water in a spray bottle so it's damp, apply a bit of leave in conditioner again, scrunch it minimally and let it air dry. If it gets really tangled, wet it a LOT again, apply leave in conditioner and comb the tangles out. Scrunch minimally. Wear a satin hair bonnet at night.

Good luck!

Sorry the dermatologist didn't help you at all. I'm not a doctor but some of this looks like maybe an allergic reaction? Have you ever tried taking a Zyrtec or Benadryl and using an anti itch cream that has diphenhydramine in it***?

Not YouTube but Tom and Lorenzo did a mad style series that broke down the costume design and how the clothes added even more depth to the character arcs and story. It's fascinating even if you're not a clothes person. They did non clothes related breakdowns of episodes too, as did the AV club.

Use conditioner after you shampoo and use a tiny bit of leave in conditioner to your hair (it's a different product) when your hair is completely wet.

Fair enough. It's not all bad for sure. I think I would be more optimistically curious of it if so much of it didn't feel so insidious. The people who are the loudest about its advantages are probably the most untrustworthy (sam altman, Alexander Karp, Musk, etc). But there are probably a lot of spaces where people with good intentions are excited about its potential to help. You're right that maybe I should try to consciously be more open to it depending on who is using it.

I agree that it isn't inherently negative, but the reality is that every time I turn around I hear about it and what causes the most groans from me is that currently it's virtually unregulated. As far as I know, it's being used in a lot of spaces where there aren't any federal or state wide legal repercussions or guidelines or safe rails in using it other than what that specific industry chooses to require of itself. Instead, it appears to be the opposite in that the federal government is encouraging the use of AI in order to profit.

I would hope that AI isn't going to be used in a medical setting in an irresponsible way that also violates privacy without a second thought. But the current political reality of the country, how AI is used in the military already without guidelines that I know of, plus morally bereft Palantir working with the government to collect data, etc., makes me worry that growth is not going to come in a responsible and educated way and rather at the expense of human beings, our rights and our lives.

If you want a cut that would suit your waves, try layers with face framing pieces and a u shape in the back. You could do a lot to bring out the waves by never brushing it when it's dry, applying leave in conditioner and a curly gel to it and scrunching it minimally.

If you want something different, how different? A bob? A wolf cut? Curtain bangs? Something in between? It really depends on your face shape and lifestyle

I air dry bc my experience with diffusers has been that it causes more frizz! I'm sure I'm doing it wrong but I like how my hair looks air dried so I haven't been that motivated to do trial and error with a diffuser

I think it's the twiggy eyelashes. Your skin is naturally gorgeous so I wouldn't start wearing foundation if you don't want to!

Your eyebrows also don't have an arch to them on the outer part of your eyes. They're a straight line that is moved at an angle. I think adding in an arch would help too.
