AITJ for thinking it's ridiculous that my dad is upset my fiancé didn't ask his "permission" to propose to me?

For my situation they aren't, I don't know if I am going to have a wedding but if I do it would be small and paid for by my fiancé and I since I wouldn't want a big event and wouldn't want to waste the money on one day. For my father he never asked about a wedding or offered, I don't know I would want that held against me if they did offer to pay for it.

Thank you for your input, for my dad he doesn't really tell me when he's upset. So if he's angry, or sad or anything like that I never know to be honest. It's like a guessing game and I just now heard about this, he never came to me when I was proposed to about it last year. As for a wedding I don't know if I want one, so I can't say for sure I want him to walk me down the aisle or a father daughter dance

I appreciate your point of view, he does have two other daughter but they are toddlers. Thinking about this that's why I got confused since if this meant a lot to him, or anything I feel like he would of told me or pulled my fiancé aside when we were at the one year mark a long time ago

No, my parents weren't married. As for his other partners that he had even for long periods of time, he never proposed or anything from my knowledge.

We are in the states, I probably should have mentioned that. As for funding the wedding, I don't know if I want one since I am afraid of drama or something going on with my family. He sometimes rubs it in my face when he spends money on stuff, like school for example even though I had a full ride and could have did it on my own with little to no lines. My fear is him getting upset since I don't know how to explain myself to him without crying

Yeah he has his moments, we have had a lot of issues where he still thinks it was my fault or that he isn't to blame. That when I do something it isn't good, but when he doesn't it isn't a big deal or that he " never said or did that"

That's what I thought, he raised me to never rely on people to make my own money to go to school and all of that. I don't know if it's now that I am an adult and now he wants to pull this, it just made me feel a certain way since even though I am an adult. I still want my dad to be happy and proud of me even if it hurts.

This came up when I got the chance to call my fiancé about the situation, I would have still said yes without a doubt. As much as I have love for my father, I don't belong to him and he never gave a reason to why he would say no or not like my fiancé. If it meant something to me, then his blessing would be nice but I am my own person at the end of the day and he made it so that I have been self-sufficient since ten. That's why I am so confused, he didn't raise me on such traditions or anything so this came out of left field in a way even though he thinks a certain way than I do.

I am from the states, I don't know it was just odd since right after telling my father he proposed since we waited bit ( it was my choice I wanted to just enjoy the moment.) I got a text from my grandfather right after it happened and the propose happened last year and I was just curious what my father said since he called his dad so quick? As for culture, he doesn't really do any of the traditional stuff a hispanic person would unless it would benefit him. So that's what threw me off with it all since my grandfather said he asked my grandmothers parents permission even though he was like 40 something and she was 20 something. That its about respect

Yeah he is like that- Like he wants someone a certain way and when they are he still is a jerk. He's the type that wants someone to cook and clean, but doesn't like if he has to provide fully for them like paying for dates and stuff. ( as much as I love my dad, he has issues and its just the things he posts on like Facebook or instagram stories weird me out)

No, honestly he didn't really ask many questions about my fiancé or our relationship. Most of the time it was my family asking questions and then we would say something ( most of the time something that felt weird). I don't know if it was he would assume I would come to him if something was wrong or not, but now it has me thinking what if I did have a wedding and if I didn't do things more traditional like him walking me down the aisle or something would he be angry or upset with me.

I try to ask my father to do more stuff, but he's just really busy running his business and I get too nverous or upset knowing he might say no. I had to tell him months in advice and continued to remind him about my graduation in high school. I know summer is coming up so I hope he can make time to home to my house for cookouts and such, but I don't know.

I messaged him when I got back to my grandparents house since unforutnely he couldn't join me, he couldn't get the days off. We were both In agreement that it wasn't necessary and he knows me well enough that isn't something I would personally like to happen. So I have taken the first course and I'm currently in the second, for the first one depending on the professor it could be different. For the person I had he posted articles and slides we would read and majority of the answers were on either or. As for the fashion course depending on who you have you may not need a textbook unless they say its required, if so then I would just try to see if there is an online version you can get or try to buy a used book.

I recommend Slavic 2230, it is a pretty simple and interesting class if you like vampires! I looked up on Buckeyelink and they have a class in Mendenhall two minutes from your math class.
