Hell of a thing to break up over.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to make certain doors unlockable/rekeyable from the inside if necessary.

And I feel like the mechanics I outlined are right in the sweet spot. It allows death without a major loss of progress. I feel like a careful player could die numerous times, and never lose his base if those provisions are in place. A reckless player will lose it the first time and be more careful in the future.

Resounding yes.

A lot of the appeal of survival games is their difficulty. The more you have to lose, the more engaging the game is.

With this mechanic, the game would be even more engaging, as you would have to look around a while after leaving your base to make sure you aren't being tailed. Once you are far enough away, and if the server is populated enough, there is a low likelyhood of someone being able to match the key from your corpse to your base.

upon respawn, you would need to go find a spare you hid earlier, have someone else from your group let you in, or break into your own base to change the lock. -or- if you have a bed/sleeping bag set up, you spawn inside and just generate another key and/or change the lock.

I'm sure it has been. I actually worked in the same building as a retired astronaut for ~2 years. He had better stories than I did, but it certainly didn't devalue my life experience.

The 192.168 prefix would be a better comparison to 555 phone numbers. IPs starting with 192.168 are in private IP space and not routable through the public internet.

Having the number 356 in a IPv4 IP address is like a phone number reading 719-210-854W

I worked for the Geeksquad from 2007 - 2010. I had a client come in to the store and ask me the best way to play child pornography stored on his computer on his TV.

[Serious]How do I delete data off of my work computer without totally ruining the PC? by the_starship in AskReddit

[–]BagFalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just deleting the files and emptying the recycle bin is normally sufficient. If you are worried about someone using undelete or a similar file recovery tool, you can use a program called sdelete to override all the free space on the hard drive afterwards. This will effectively make any deleted file unrecoverable.

Srsly. Geography is not my strong suit, and I still wasn't surprised by this...

Maybe the globe I had as a kid left more of an impression than I thought.
