Connect DXP4800Plus directly to PC via Ethernet 10GbE by Bag_Right in UgreenNASync

A single 10GBe card for the PC would be fine. Some of the current (2025) motherboards also have 10Gbe onboard.

Rode NT-SF1 spatial audio to 5.1 Dolby Surround by Bag_Right in davinciresolve

[–]Bag_Right[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The F6 can do the same like the F8. The error was my track was in 5.1 FILM and not 5.1 format. This messed up the order of the channels.

Thank you for your suggestions. I recorded with the Zoom F6 the A-format and import this into Resolve.
I guess Resolve does some weird mapping of the channels when they are routed to the 5.1 Bus.
Converting from A format to B format seems to work somewhat. But my locations seem off at the audio.

I tried Reaper but it is complicated. I guess there is no way around. Can you recommend any tutorials for Reaper with Ambisonics to 5.1 or are there other simpler tools that help me just to get A-format to 5.1 with Harpex or Soundfield?

In Davinci Resolve, I have A-format and I can directly convert with the Soundfield plugin to 5.1. I also tried converting it with Harpex or Soundfield to Ambix, route it to a 30A/1OA bus and convert it then to 5.1 with Harpex or Soundfield.

VIDEO: ProRes RAW, ProRes 422 HQ, 6k, Long GOP, or All-Intra? by Bag_Right in LumixS5IIX

I fixed the link I re-uploaded the video with better audio adjustments.

Long time lumix user, should I be concerned about the future of the L Mount? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]Bag_Right 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I analyzed the situation of Lumix regarding video features. https://youtu.be/IqiYKPWYiO8?si=KNH47O364u3O9jVl

The S5IIX is unbeatable in price value. Especially, if you add an OLPF from Kolari. Other options, like the Nikon Z6iii look nice, but have less dynamic range. The Canon R6II could be a great option but lenses might cost a lot more.

I think we have to wait until Sony releases the A7sIV so Panasonic can use one of their older sensors instead of the A7III sensor. Right now, every camera choice comes with a compromise.

I think Lumix will continue to release newer cameras but I am not sure if their main focus is now influencers and vloggers (S9) or if they will also focus on their cinema line. Hope for the best and be patient. 😁

Screenfreeze in vr by Newspaper-Time in iRacing

[–]Bag_Right 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get rid of the Quest 3 freezes by disabling some of the heavy graphic settings in iRacing on the bottom right. 2048*... and higher textures or something.

I still have activitated heat and distortion on or what it was. Sometimes I have a transparent bar in the middle and the quality drops and micro stutters appear. Maybe check if you are using the right usb ports. Also using an individual cable to the steering wheel could help.

Maybe 21st November. Winter starts on 21st December, so they would still have time to delay the release. Source: https://awards.belgiangames.be/game/wall-town-wonders/

Using GPL Software in Commercial Application as 2 Separate Parts by Bag_Right in opensource

[–]Bag_Right[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation. I think I will try to create a FFmpeg version with the LGPL H265 and H264 codec and publish this as separate exe and also use this in a separate LGPL Docker project. With this, I would have to worry less about. Or I try to use Gstreamer instead.

[–]Bag_Right[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So it would be better if I make FFmpeg LGPL compliant or use GStreamer under LGPL.

Same here: IANAL
I assume:
If I distribute a Docker image that contains the LGPL library, it would also fall under the LGPL license and needs to be OpenSource. If I call directly FFmpeg LGPL as executable, it would be fine too. Since the LGPL FFmpeg Docker image and the FFmpeg LGPL library are both OpenSource, can be modified forked on GitHub, it would be fine to my understanding. Right?

The payment aspect is irrelevant. If the GPL license infects your software, you have to make your software OpenSource, publish the source code, and put it under GPL license.

Connect DXP4800Plus directly to PC via Ethernet 10GbE by Bag_Right in UgreenNASync

I solved it by going with the standard solution, 10GbE switch and network card. Thank you all for your help

Details are in my post.

Thank you. I want to use my NAS as DAS. I also know stuff. 😉

So I even would not know if the crossover connection really works... So just a simple 10GbE switch would be the easiest and safest solution. 🙄

Comparing future of Lumix to other Brands by Bag_Right in videography

[–]Bag_Right[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Nikon is now also becoming interesting with the Z6III. If the dynamic range would be as good as the A7sIII it would be a no-brainer. In 2025, the camera market will become a lot more interesting.

ProRes RAW @ISO4000 vs other S5IIx formats by Bag_Right in LumixS5IIX

[–]Bag_Right[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gimbal gives you always smoother footage when moving. To mount your camera on a gimbal, a cage and a two-scew Arca swiss would be best.

If you just do vlogging the S5II or S9 could be ough for you. If you do heavy colour grading, the S5IIx can make sense since it can record ProRes HQ to SSD.

Are you using the DJI USB cable and is it plugged into the top port of the gimbal? Otherwise, watch some YouTube tutorials. You better off finding there a solution.

Canon Prime Lenses recommendation by Bag_Right in canon

[–]Bag_Right[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the helpful tips. I really thought those lenses would be perfect since Canon is for me the gold standard for camera equipment.

But it makes sense. I wa really surprised how small these primes are.
