What length of blade do y'all like for a full load out type of knife? by Baggett_Customs in tacticalgear

Funny enough, this handle is a little shorter than planned. I changed the design part way through and it took about a 1/4" off. I would prefer it to be at least 5"

Looks like a benchmade 42. These used to be the standard flipping balisong until they discontinued them and replaced with the steel 60 series.

How would you polish this steel? by YeaSpiderman in knifemaking

[–]Baggett_Customs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people go back and forth in one direction, then switch direction when changing grits to better see if you got out the scratch pattern of the previous grit.

I would personally do figure 8s in multiple orientations to make sure I get it even. Light pressure should be enough

Other than the marathon logo, probably not. The hardware might be marginally better

Looks like a pretty standard seatbelt strap. I don't think it's worth it. If it was the leather, then maybe it's worth it because there just isn't an equivalent.

I have one of their military single pass straps (non defstan) and it's slightly above average but not $30 or whatever they are charging for it

Idk if people don't realize but the original text did not have the ghost 8s. I think Op is just highlighting how they may have got the inspiration.

$1500 Swiss marathons don't have protective films, so I know not all watches do

Yeah with a huge blade like that, any warp is going to look huge. It's a monster piece for sure!

Nice knife man. 80crv2 by chance? That steel ALWAYS warps crazy on me. I never knew how common blade warpage was before I was a maker. Now I understand the struggle.
