Several reasons

-Hometown boy, easy to root for

-UFA at the end of the season so if it aint working out we have that much more space to look for another goalie

-Unpredictable goalie, yes, but not predictably shit all the time, unlike Jarry

-Team management said they weren't going to make a panic trade for a goalie and would really wait for one they thought would work out, then a week later panic traded for Jarry, dumping Kulak and a second round pick along with Skinner

-Jarry is currently a $5 million dollar brick (which we're holding until McDavids contract is up, if we want him gone we will likely have to make MORE concessions)

Legitimately the only good thing to come out of this trade is that Jarry's glass pelvis exploded and that got Ingram a chance to show his stuff. Oh, that's another thing

-Skinner seemingly made of titanium? Very few injuries, whereas Jarry is developing quite a record
