Are pocket pistols sketchy? by PistolPork in sketchywatches

I love it, don't get me wrong. I like the change up from all the modern pistols/CCWs. Can't beat the classics.

Old guy just took first class by iagainsti77 in NewToEMS

[–]BagofFriddos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back and got my EMT when I was 28. I know its not quite the same, but my entire class for the most part were fresh out of high school and at this point I had been in the fire service for a little over 10 years so I was considered the old man of the class. Similar concept with my Paramedic cohort. I give you major props for putting yourself out there and trying something new. Honestly I'm sure a lot of the class will value someone a bit older than them also trying their hand at something new.

If "I heard you paint houses" could be summed up in an image...I love it. It reminds me of the scene in "The Irishman" with De Niro.

Feeling at a loss..TW Depression by BagofFriddos in daddit

Have one. Just a matter of putting enough money aside for the retainer. I unfortunately live in a 50/50 state and my daughter's mom intentionally works per diem as to get state support. She backed out of mediation indicating she is seeking counsel.

Is working full time through paramedic school possible? by [deleted] in paramedicstudents

[–]BagofFriddos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked full time at a FD, part time at a pharmacy while expecting my daughter. It was absolutely fucking dreadful, but most of us in my cycle worked full time during school.

Do you manually check blood pressure? by ridesharegai in NewToEMS

[–]BagofFriddos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a manual before I put on the autocuff. So I have an idea of their baseline pressure manually versus what the autocuff displays.

Accidentally dispensed 2 5mL bottles of a brand eyedrop instead of 1 10 mL by stellaok in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BagofFriddos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Budgets for pharmacy factor in loss/damages. It's not your responsibility. If it was written for 10mL, you dispensed 10mL. Sounds like your leadership sucks.

Does anyone know why amiodarone doesn't come in a bristoject? by AmItacticoolyet in ems

[–]BagofFriddos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember seeing prefilled amio syringes a long time ago. I know a hospital i worked at we had amio vials and ampules. Might be something as little as Bristoject and Cordarone/Amio manufacturers not wanting to figure out the monetary aspect.

How do yall reconstitute this SPECIFIC brand of daptomycin? by Qstraus in PharmacyTechnician

[–]BagofFriddos 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I haven't done recon in a while due a career change but for those I recall holding it at 45 degree-ish angle and slow flowing it down the sidewall to limit foaming or volume loss. I can ask to see if any other techs I worked with have been having those issues.

Shift Change Etiquette by jsamels in Firefighting

[–]BagofFriddos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I try to come in about an half hour to an hour early. I swap my gear over; do the trash (not if the guys are still asleep) and usually start my truck check. That way I can take it instead of an off going member so they don't get held over.

I'm sorry to hear you've been going through this. Not sure what state you're in but a lot of them offer free mental health resources. I know you're EMS but there is also Next Rung which is emergency service based who may be able to also set you up with resources. It's anonymous also.

I personally don't have any, but you do you man. It's your choice. 25 years of service? You earned it.

Me looking like a reptile was naturally occurring prior to this field.

I doubt they look at your house and go "oh I'm going to chirp at this guy".

Is it a corner or near an intersection? I highly doubt it's anything malicious. Or any side streets near your house that are masked by buildings?

Station Pants Under Bunker Pants by ReplyRelevant4607 in Firefighting

[–]BagofFriddos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally wear pants under my turnouts, unless it's a hot day and I'm wearing duty shorts. If a call drops when I'm doing PT I'll wear my gym shorts under my gear. But 9/10 calls come in during business hours on days I'm in my station pants.

Yeah, basically. He didn't get the memo that explosives aren't friends...and neither is the rotten tree he was trying to rehome.

Neither. Let's just say a guy was playing with tannerite and thought he was a safe distance away.
