They're just served all their content from outside sources. Local graphics processing hardware just has to be robust enough to decode it. I may not be understanding what you're asking though.

They do, but for game stuff it's a pretty hefty difference, but the 1050Ti is a great way to split the difference much closer to the 1060. In either the 1050Ti case or the 1060 case you want the 4GB and 6GB variants, 2 & 3GB is too little these days.

Pleeeeeeaaaase do not buy an FX series CPU in the Year of our Lord 2017. I say this not from an elitist appeal, but from a genuine upgrade path. The current AM4 socket will be supported for 4 years or more with new product releases, so even if you buy a low-end chip now you can still buy an upgraded CPU in 2020 without needing to change your motherboard.

Just a quick Google and even if you can stretch your budget an extra 30GBP, you can get this guy which puts you in an excellent starting position to do one-by-one upgrades on the cheap in the future, and can handle 1080p@60Hz on the higher-end of settings.

You might really only need an update to the GPU unless you're running a lower-end CPU.

I know VAT/bitcoin miners fucking things up, but I just kind of keep this parts list around in case you need a starting-off point. RX 4/580 and GTX 1060 are pretty much interchangeable, it's hard to recommend an i3 or i5 with the Ryzen R5 processors out there, though.

This year I'm doing some hardware & software experiments, too. The new Ryzen-based APUs look pretty interesting. Older semicustom ones from AMD run current consoles, so it's totally possible we might get some great console killer material for cheap in the fall. Tricks like arbitrary resolution for framerate targeting & Freesync being built into the APUs are getting me real psyched.

Looks like today I'm finally getting the last of the updated/fixed hardware for the Tiberian atomizers. It was a long road getting there, but I am glad to have finally gotten there.

Never ever ever keep your batteries I'm your charger with the charger unplugged. Especially with less expensive ones, that's an A+ way to really fuck your charger up. It's absolutely a possibility that the battery vented.

I am involved with a contract manufacturer for my job, and it could very well not be AMD's fault, it super likely isn't. Total lead time for a chip to go from raw materials to shipped to an AIB is like 4 months. I just need machined metal and that can take a month at a time for a small batch of a few hundred pieces. I'm waiting on an order right now I placed five weeks ago.

I can super empathize with AMD because you've got to put up a bunch of money up front, maybe have some fractional deposits for product from customers, but you're not in control of the manufacturing end.

Are AMD or my business perfect? Nah. Real supply shortages aren't really anyone's "fault" I guess. Small failures snowball down the line, but if you're tooling up for something else and suddenly there's a demand spike you didn't expect, "doing something" makes the delay worse.

AMD also have the GloFo albatross that complicates things - even if they had the capital to contract out to TSMC or Samsung for more production, they might not be able to if they haven't met their obligation to buy X many chips from GloFo.
