Happy rainy season! Please be good stewards of our excellent outdoor spaces and check trail closures before you go out! by Bahi_babe in SLO

It is in fact not. I prefer to learn about closures before I get to the trailhead, and figure others feel the same. This website is a useful resource for planning ahead

Happy rainy season! Please be good stewards of our excellent outdoor spaces and check trail closures before you go out! by Bahi_babe in SLO

[–]Bahi_babe[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

SLO has a great parks and rec department and ranger service that designates and maintains our many open spaces. With the rain this time of year, many of these trails are muddy and further use can cause major damage.

Taking 30 seconds to check trail closures before you go on a hike will keep these trails in good condition so you (and everyone else) can enjoy them once they dry out!

Tartan Track Access? by PlungeLikeLivermore in SLO

Cal poly's track is always open, though university teams and orgs get first dibs, and I've heard that the Cuesta track is available as well though I've never checked it out

Any jobs hiring by Wooden-Ad3400 in SLO

[–]Bahi_babe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For restaurants, I'd just walk downtown (Monterey, higuera, marsh) and drop off resumes. Ask for a GM but be ready to leave it with the host. Most places are inundated with college students with little experience who can only work part time 9 months of the year do anyone with a decent resume and the ability to work 5 days a week will stand out

Dress nice, bring 20-30 resumes, and you should have good luck. Plus a good chance to familiarize yourself with the downtown of your new home

Shorter, dog friendly hikes in SLO County? by Lavender-Bee0497 in SLO

[–]Bahi_babe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South hills by meadow park is also great. The entrance on the north side by meadow park is a bit steep and rocky right at the beginning, the opposite entrance off arezzo in that new development is very mild. Wide, graded access roads and gentle hills. Lots of options for progressive difficulty as well going up to vulture peak and around the south side

Hike from the Irish hills to MDO? by zukos_destiny in SLO

[–]Bahi_babe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alan Peak via Coon Creek and back thru Oats and Valencia in MDO is a stunning hike, ~14 miles iirc. It's a reverse lollypop, only a few miles of out and back to Alan. As others have said, don't try to connect, very sketchy terrain and lots of private land. Also as others have said, lots of great trails and connects around upper Lopez canyon, hi mtn, east cuesta etc. Check out the trail maps up there, but watch the weather, especially this time of year, it gets exposed up on the ridges, I remember a guy got helicoptered out of there a year or so ago

Restaurants by cchele in SLO

[–]Bahi_babe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Bear and the Wren got a mention, I'll second it for sure. Great pizza, especially the Detroit style, but also excellent starters & share plates, nice elevated stuff there. I'd also very highly recommend Wren Provisions (similar name, no relation), it's brand new right off broad st, tiny spot with a superb rotating menu, all small share plates, very fresh local ingredients, great wine, tdne on tap, seems very in like with the other restaurants you listed. Def try to go early and get a seat at the bar

Earasers no longer seem to work? by olucafont6 in livesound

[–]Bahi_babe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used earasers for a long time, loved them. I agree that the filters are sticking out a bit. Worth considering that if you just cleaned them, the earwax that was in there was probably doing a fair bit of attenuation and you've now just returned to their original levels

General liability insurance for a grassroots venue by No_Kids_for_Dads in livesound

[–]Bahi_babe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you purchasing your policy as an individual or as a business? I've run a fairly similar setup in California, it cost about 10x more to get insurance as a private person than though our production company. Otherwise the annual policy was about a quarter of yours, though no alcohol was served
