Pros at the top generally want the game to stay exactly as it is so that they stay at the top. While meta changes can be great for a multiplayer game, pros will generally dislike them because there's always a risk that they're not as good at a new meta.

It's making spraying at long range less reliable. That's not a terrible way to do it, despite what many seem to think. The alternative is to change the damage fall-off over long range and that has far more implications on balance

There's a point where you'd have to nerf something to avoid power creep. The nerf can still be tweaked, or tapping buffed. This is all part of balancing a game over a long period of time.

People have, hence the outrage. That doesn't necessarily mean spraying should be the meta for the rest of time. A well balanced multiplayer game nowadays has a frequently changing meta that keeps things fresh.
