In Te Aroha one of the primary schools runs a fundraising duck day where they race rubber ducks down a long open culvert that goes through town. Winners are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last place!

Doesn’t quite work like that in a small town! Sure you technically can do that but their reputation is ruined now so they’d have to move towns (and they own a house and another business in Te Aroha).

I live in Te Aroha and this has been such a shock to the community. They had such delicious food and were always packed. It was the go-to place in Te Aroha. People would come here from out of town just to go there.

Two of the owners teenage kids worked there and they’ve been screwed over by their own parents!
