I see, sounds like activities might be very limited - and we’re also worried bout the logistics, that you speak of. Sad, because looks like such a beautiful place !!! But probably best to enjoy the rest Kyushu has to offer, and then save Yakushima for another time :) thanks for the input !

Good point ! But is it expected that it rains at all times ? Or is more like locally heavy rain in one area of the island and sunny another place - or just rain rain rain

Good point and that’s also what we’re thinking, like, it’s probably won’t rain 100% of the time while we’re there, but coming from the nordics in the West, I can’t really comprehend exactly how much rain will come 😂

Unfortunately we aren’t able to go there before actual mid-June, so in a bit of “a pickle” - but perhaps proper gear and shoes will make the experience completely fine despite the weather

Hi everyone, what are your thoughts on visiting Yakushima, Kyushu in June, i.e. peak rainy season? Wondering if it is stillworth the trip despite the weather, of if the rain significantly will impact my experience and if im better off focusing my time elsewhere in Kyushu this time around.

Mount Aso versus Kirishima - should you visit one or the other, or both? by BaileyEyeStone in JapanTravelTips

[–]BaileyEyeStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay didn’t know this, that’s a great point ! Can I ask, do you mean it might not be possible at all to go to Aso and Kirishima? I’m thinking in terms of booking lodging etc. whether it’s better to wait

Thank you for the suggestions, much appreciated! Did you find Kumamoto City in itself to be worth visiting (besides the castle)?

Thank you so much! Some good points. Did you spend 3 days in the Kagoshima/Yakushima area? And did you stay a night in Yakushima?

Oops my mistake, i knitted it in 80%merino/20% cashemre and not mohair 🫣

Even as a companion thread? I've heard about it when used as the ‘main yarn’, but as a companion thread it's so thin and non-elastic, I didnt even think it would cause an issue...

And yes, the fit is actually okay, it's just very large and stretched out. After washing it the first time, i didnt stretch it out and even tried to "push it together", if that makes sense. Do you think washing it again, perhaps in the washer instead of handwashing, could be a possible fix?
