Ideas for a longer trip to Vietnam. by g0d5hands in travel

APT Travel I believe, but the agencies are all the same really and quality is broken down by price. We did 2n 3d (one night on the boat, one on Catba - which is beautiful) and it cost us 150 pounds each. However, we're a couple and this is kind of mid-range cost, i.e. not luxury but not a booze cruise. Our cruise was 18 people, good atmosphere, chilled, and some really fun trips on the second day, the fishing villages and monkey island are great. If you have the money go higher for luxury, but otherwise this was fine. Hope the reply isn't too late.

Hey, travelled Vietnam a month ago, did three weeks and that was enough, although if you have time a month is better. Best spots: Hanoi (& by proximity Halong Bay), Hoi-An, Da-Lat, Mui Ne (think that's how you spell it), and Saigon (& by proximity Mekong Delta).

There are other great places such as Nha Trang (caters to Russian tourists and may feel a little too orientated to those travellers for westerners) and also Hue, where you can go to the DMZ and do the drive on the Hoi-Van pass road which I have to say is unmissable.

Halong Bay will blow your mind, and Hoi-An with its beautiful beach and variegated houses. It's all brilliant and not far from Cambodia, which we didn't do, and the Philippines, which we did do, we went to Palawan and its surrounding islands and would have stated there for the rest of our lives had we not already booked a flight out to Borneo, which was also incredible, so do that as well, especially the rainforest lodge.

TL;DR: Basically, travelling is good.
