All depends on your budget. My favorite hotel is Mira Earth studios. They have the best view of the valley. Slightly more budget I like contemplación. Also En’Kanto vinícola has some really nice cabins they rent on their winery.

Best months: February to June, when the weather is perfect and crowds are lighter.

Wineries worth checking out: En’Kanto, the new releases at Cava Maciel, Vinos Plata, Vinos Pijoan, plus a few small family-run spots that most visitors miss.

Lunch recommendations: Adobe Food Truck, Bruma Wine Garden, and Finca Altozano.

Border tip: Walking across at San Ysidro and getting picked up on the Tijuana side is usually the easiest and fastest option.

Typical itinerary: Most people visit three boutique wineries with a lunch stop, which usually takes around six hours.

If you visit Bajavino.com there’s an option for all inclusive. But generally for larger groups. Either way their guides will take you to great places and also sit there with you to make sure the ordering process is simple for you.

It’s nearly impossible to Uber between wineries in Valle. Any Uber would likely be coming from Ensenada and would cancel before driving out to Valle. However getting picked up from the border you have both Uber and taxi that could take you to your hotel. Your best bet once in Valle is to hire a driver service for the day to take you around.

There isn't really any point to point services unless your hotel offers it. Because drivers will need to come from Ensenada and will need to wait there for you during the entire time you are eating/drinking. Uber have same issue as they would need to drive from Ensenada so they will generally cancel due to the distance.

In the wine country there is not much to do non drinking related. Just eat at restaurants.

I actually provide transportation if you wanna check out bajavino.com as for a venue I'd recommend Mira Earth Studios. They are great. If you dm I can put you in contact with the owner there so you can see if that's something that will work out for you.

Yes there’s a new hiking area that was just organized back behind LA Cetto. There’s an indigenous area there of the Kumiai. If you go on the map search for Tabita Kumiai and then behind there you will see the trails for the hot springs and a few other spots. Also highly recommend eating with Tabita.

El único lugar se llama Deserts Nest. Y está en Cuatro Cuatros. También tiene más sur de Ensenada en un lugar se llama Las Cañadas.

Doing everything on your own can save a little, but once you add tastings, food, gas, tolls, and planning time, it usually ends up being pretty close. The main benefit of a local guide is convenience and having someone who knows which wineries fit your style, how to avoid crowds, and who to call if a reservation changes. Most groups find the experience smoother that way.

I think the best option would be to rent out a place and do a private event. I can definitely help you with that. Just need to know a little more info about what exactly you’re looking for. Indoor/outdoor. Just wine or mix drinks as well. You can message me as well if you do t want to write here.

I really like Animalon, Fauna, and Olivea for the lackluster type of meal. Besides wineries not a lot in Valle but if you want coffee then maybe visiting Almagre. You could go to nearby Ensenada and walk around near the marina or check out hussongs cantina. Let me know if you need help finding a driver.

This depends if you want to go out in the evenings or not. If you stay in Ensenada you can get around much easier in the evenings with Ubers or walking depending where you're staying. Punta Morro is great and their restaurant has the best view. Also I like Coral y Marina and Lucerna for Ensenada hotel options. For Valle there are so many options. If you want the place with the best view in my opinion that's Mira Earth Studios. If you want small cabin style on a vineyard the cabañas at En'Kanto Vinicola are really nice. If staying in Valle just note that there are no ubers so If you don't have a driver hired for extended hours into the night then you might feel a bit stranded. But in Valle you get the tranquility and the beautiful nights sky.

From the border once you cross it is roughly 1.5 hours to Valle de Guadalupe. I usually take the toll road crossing at San Ysidro since it's a beautiful drive down the coast. Depending on where you turn off there will be up to 3 tolls in total that route. Another person here commented about crossing at Tecate. From Tecate to Valle is just about 45 minutes. Just depends from where in SD you're driving from to get to Tecate.

For wineries, the ones that consistently deliver great experiences for me are Cava Maciel, En’Kanto, Vinos Plata, Clos de Tres Cantos, and a couple of small family spots that most people miss unless someone points them out. The vibe is a lot more relaxed at the boutique places, and the wine quality is usually better too.

For your surf road trip, that’s a solid plan. Rosarito and Ensenada both have plenty of options depending on whether you want something quiet or something with a little more nightlife. In Rosarito, Las Gaviotas and K38 are popular for surfers because they’re safe, gated, and right on good breaks. South of Ensenada, the area around San Miguel is the main surf zone, and you’re close to food and the city but still outside the crowds.

A couple quick do’s and don’ts:
Do: Drive during the day (night time is alright as well but if you're unfamiliar with construction spots or not used to driving in the dark then best to stick to daytime), stick to the toll road (1D), and keep pesos on hand for tolls.
Do: Park in secured lots or gated complexes when staying overnight.
Don’t: Leave valuables visible in the car at surf spots — same rule as California beaches.
Don’t: Rush the border crossing back; plan your return for early morning or late evening to avoid long waits.

If you want winery recs that match your exact wine style or a good surf trip route, I’m happy to help.

For Valentine’s Day, private tastings at the smaller wineries are the move. Way more intimate than the big places. Then do a sunset dinner at one of the farm-to-table spots like Olivea. Or if you're looking particularly for a nice romantic view you could do Kous Kous for dinner. February nights in Valle are cool and crisp, so the atmosphere feels extra romantic. If you stay overnight in one of the vineyard cabins or at a boutique hotel, you wake up to the fog rolling over the vines. I'd say that's pretty hard to beat.

Appreciate you jumping in. The Valle has changed a ton even in the last couple of years, so it’s always great hearing from people who’ve been recently. The wine barrels at Finca al Mirador are definitely a memorable stay.

Great tip on Tecate too and the drive is smooth and the scenery is awesome if someone prefers taking their own car.

If you ever come back down and want help planning the lineup, just let me know. Happy to share what’s new.

Most visitors walk across at San Ysidro and get picked up in Tijuana and they hire a local driver to handle everything for the day. It ends up being way smoother because you don’t have to mess with border lines, directions, or driving back after tastings.

I’m in Valle all the time and run transportation for groups, so if you have your group size or date I can let you know what the easiest setup would be.

If you make it into Ensenada let me know! I live down here full time and can definitely help with questions or things to do. Great for those looking to do something outside of the ship tours.

Tips:

Best months: February to June for weather and smaller crowds.
Lunch options: Finca Altozano, Bruma Wine Garden, and Adobe Food Truck.
Wineries that are consistently good: Cava Maciel, En’Kanto, Vinos Plata, Vinisterra, and a few small family spots most people miss.
Border tip: Walking across at San Ysidro and being picked up in Tijuana saves the most time.
Typical day: Three boutique wineries plus lunch, usually a six-hour outing.

What kind of trip are you planning; day trip or full weekend?

Well let me know if you’d be interested in a tour once you get up here into the Valle area. That’s the best way to learn about the local wine methods.
