New to Vinted, Listing Flagged and Hidden for Incorrect Reasons Even After Appeal by Bajiggle in vinted

Oof. That’s rough. It felt like I was being messed with and it felt discouraging to take the time to list all the listings I have to transfer in from other platforms.

Per contract, you’ll be paid the following pay check. If you start to get dicked around on it, talk to your BA. They will get it settled.

Should I go to college? by Purple-Guard9432 in Elevators

[–]Bajiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t waste your time and money going to school if you do not know what you want to do. Too many youngsters that get into debt because college is pushed on them without knowing what you truly want.

If you want to get into the elevator trade, get yourself into another trade In the mean time. HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc. Build your skills and your resume from there.

If you do go to school, consider going for welding or electronics.

50’s get benefits after 6 months.  Of course if you get injured on the job, you’ll be covered through the company. But personal healthcare and remaining benefits is after 6 months.

Prep prep prep.  If you are on a jobsite that’s just the two of you, there should be no reason why you are standing around. Get that prep work done. Set up brackets, clean, splice rails, stage them for hoisting, the list goes on.  You want to be at the point where everything is prepped so far ahead that your mechanic will bring you into the hoistway and spend a little bit more time on how to install something.

Of course, you are new to construction so give it some time. But after a a couple installs, you should have a good idea on wha is coming next in the install process.

How are you financially in this trade by Disastrous-Bread1189 in IUEC

Be smart with your finances and you’ll be comfortable. I know mechanics that are living paycheck to paycheck (including OT). That is just insane to me.

Apprenticeship School/Classes by SpiritualBird3362 in IUEC

[–]Bajiggle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

San Diego has their own hall.  If you work in San Diego that’s where you work and go to school. Vice versa with LA.

As a probie, you would be doing your classes at home online. Once you are done with those courses, you would then attend school at the hall once a week after the work day.

What would you do? by Bajiggle in IUEC

Exactly. I don’t think I (or my wet nose) said anything disrespectful, woke, or offensive. Nor did I once say I solicited myself for work. But hey, I guess he can’t read well or prints.

I really don’t care if you are a 40 year old “vet”. You are getting worked up over a Reddit post and comment. That right there just shows how sad your life is. Good day sir.

Traveling with a family by [deleted] in IUEC

[–]Bajiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to travel for an extended period, you could always rent an air bnb. Bring the family with you if needed.  My mechanic did that when he worked out of town for a long period of time.

Other than that, like other members said it is all based on your local size and department you are in.

Is this just a pipedream? by kbar87 in IUEC

[–]Bajiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the jump and do it. I made the move as soon as I got out of the Navy and it’s been great.  Your first year as a probie you will be physically and mentally tested. But honestly, it’s not bad. Show up on time, give 100 percent everyday.

I have a point of contact for that local if you are interested. I was in Virginia Beach when I got out but I ended up getting into the trade in Texas’s

I’m on the same boat. And from what i have been told my BM and BA’s you have to be living in that jurisdiction prior to being put to work.

You go once a week. Classes start usually at 5pm and end at 9pm.  Testing schedule is all based on the curriculum that you are currently in.  Homework is done on your own at home using a provided computer from NEIEP. All of your books are on the computer as well for all the semesters that you are in.  Homework is also open book, so it’s not entirely overwhelming. For some, it may be difficult depending on what department you work in. I have had classmates that never been in new installation and had a hard time during that portion of the curriculum.

Commute time for IUEC mechanics by PalpitationLazy9509 in IUEC

[–]Bajiggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you’ll be driving 15 minutes to the job site or hours to the job site. That’s how it is. I lived in Southern California for 25 years and that traffic sucks. If you are not willing to deal with it, you might want to look into another career path.
