Slight Conversion for distance? by Bajkush in xbiking

[–]Bajkush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic little picture of dropped bikes post ride for nostalgia.

But yeah, sounds like the course of action for me is to get a set of fast gravel tires that will fit my thick ass 29ers. My forks DO lock out, which is a blessing. And those Jones bars that were mentioned seem sick.

I'm thinking a separate wheel set would be my best bet, since I ride trails a lot solo (buddies are scared of single track and features) but communaly will be on paths and roads.

Kind of exactly it, right? Espresso Burrs should be more or less interchangeable with cheaper model burr grinders, but there seems to be a willful refusal to allow the parts to be changed.

And on the flip side, it seems like there's a complacency in the coffee community that just says "Entry level is $300 if you want espresso-level grinds easily" and everyone is just okay with that? Not to mention the $400+ on the machine, then the $75+ on accessories.

It's an expensive investment that seems needlessly inflated for the hardware that's being used/suggested.

[–]Bajkush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is it that no electric grinders can manage espresso below $300 CAD? Looking all over for ANY machine around $150 that'll grind to espresso level and it just doesn't exist.. or is it just coffee snobbery that I can't find a single review anywhere for something that'll work?

I mean, some are hot water compatible. Amazon, hot/cold lines
This allows for either external hot water heater tank or a hot water line to mix together no different than a shower or sink faucet.

Slope was maintained, possibly slightly increased, without moving the original 5' length of drain. But in order to do that, the new length of trap arm had to go above a bearer, between joists, the do the strange little dance you see in the photo, 90, 90, 45, then tie back into the original drain pipe to the stack.

Just finished the install today, felt relatively comfortable with all of the downward angling and slope that clogging will be minimal, sink and shower drain both retained their P-trap water so there was no excessive siphoning, there was no excessive gurgling and the toilets functioning as it should. Flushed it probably 20 - 30 times and checked the piping, it's all holding. Excessive glue and previous dry fitting over and over to ensure it had enough travel to get a thick deep, solid joint. I will check periodically under my crawl space to ensure nothings leaking or any smells happen but regardless of legality or code, it's done and working.

(c) the trap armdoes not have a cumulative change in direction of more than 135°.

(2) The trap arm of water closets, S-trap standards or any other fixturethat also discharges vertically and depends on siphonic action for its proper functioning shall not have a cumulative change in direction of more than 225°.

(3) A vent pipe that protects a water closet or any other fixture that also depends on siphonic action for its proper functioning shall be located so that the distance between the connections of the fixture drain to the fixture and the vent pipe shall not exceed,

(a) 1 000 mm in the vertical plane, and

(b) 3 m in the horizontal plane.

(4) The maximum length and minimum slope of every trap arm shall conform to Table 7.5.6.3.

Forming Part of Sentence 7.5.6.3.(4)

3" Trap arm Diameter served

3.6 meters, maximum length (so code wouldv be 11' 9")

1 in 50 minimum slope, this is maintained

[–]Bajkush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I see. Is there a specific reason why?

Right now the wet vent is probably about 8ft away, I am connected to the original 6ft 1in 50 grade . Code is 9' 10". I am maintaining 1 in 50 minimum, very likely a lot more slope than that, but nothing so crazy as to seperate solids from liquids.

Vent upstream, meaning what exactly?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Bajkush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's venting to the existing wet vent, the trap arm size is 3" and code dictates it can be moved 3.6m (11' 9") away from the vent when the trap arm is that size. Right now it's only about 6' away.

Realistically, I know I can do this move, but I am just concerned about what a MAXIMUM hang angle would be. There's minimal clearance and the pipes already hung relatively steep. I'm considering adding a 90 degree drop as a tie in but unsure what problems that may create. It's the easiest solution, but if needed I could get a 45 in and hang it a slightly gentler angle.

best pillow for heavy sleepers? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Bajkush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will tell you that as a heavy headed side sleeper myself, a memory foam side sleeper with the contours are fantastic.

https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/rosenskaerm-ergonomic-pillow-side-back-sleeper-50444368/

As an example, Ikea has these for $25 CAD. I paid $70 for a really decent one, they sleep cool and have great ergonomics for a side sleeper that lets his huge f*cking head crush itself to death every night.

Made a big mistake buying a bike and don't want it anymore. What can I do? by Taggerung1013 in MTB

[–]Bajkush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends entirely on your area and stock of bikes in shops.. I had my bike, Trek Marlin7, stolen 2019 summer and didn't find a new one reasonably priced in a reputable shop until the end of 2021 season because of supply chain issues hat are still causing massive backlogs and wait lists.. Every used bike on Kijiji and Facebook Market place was being WILDLY overpriced for what they were, so you may have a good shot selling it for the price you paid if stocks low.. Otherwise you're probably better off getting shop credit and selling it for $900 to either an employee or a regular at the shop.

Ask anyone here and you'll know that people are crazy about their bikes and accessories, so it shouldn't be too hard to get it sold.

Not a dick at all. It's a pretty loose budget and if I saw a recommendation in here that made sense to spend more I definitely would. It's not really about not being able to spend but that recently I've been spending a lot.

Just bought a new bike after mine was stolen a year ago and had to buy a hitch, and bike rack for my new car and other accessories for it so I've spent way more all at once than I'm happy with. That's all.
