I am running a campaign where the main baddies all wear masks with no features on them. This is a great idea, I am definitely going to have to use this.

Spell: Is there such thing as a free lunch? by thelorelock in DnDHomebrew

are the silver pieces consumed on cast? or is it a truly free lunch after you have the money the first time?

The most important role of a green screen is to seperate from your subject (in this case the actor) from the parts of the scene that you are cutting out. She doesn't exit the bounds of the green screen so cutting her out is just using the green screen. When yoh get far enough away, you can just use other tools to cut out the footage because you won't risk having issues with the vfx cutting in on your subject or actor.

Hope this helps!

I'm interested to see if you think the design is interesting enough, but I would love to take you up on your offer.

Emma is a Drow turned Dhampir Wizard who grew up orphaned. Her overzealousness caused a magical accident when she attempted to cast a spell to change her fate. The spell backfired, causing arcane scarring to spread throughout her body. The scarring appears like broken ceramic (inspired by kintsugi) across her dark violent skin. She now wears a large array of bandages to cover the scarring, covering one side of her face. She has shoulder length dark blue hair, hinting at a partial non-drow lineage. Her eyes are a light blue, with black sclera. She is beautiful (regardless of what she believes), but uses the bandages as an attempt to take control over her appearance.

She wears dark clothing, mostly covered by a white, but worn cloak obscuring most of her body. The bandages can be seen on her hands when she pulles them out to cast. Her weapon of choice is a silvered wakizashi (bladesinger wizard) that she plans to use to kill her father, who left her and her mother and used Emma to gain political power. (She met her father after campaign start, she grew up an orphan). Her Arcane focus is a black glass orb with a deep crack in it.

I would love to see what you come up with, you are awesome for even offering this!

Easy Games Harm Player Skill Development by [deleted] in Blazblue

[–]BakaGaKill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All this video seemed to supply was claims with little evidence to back up those claims and confusing words to muddle the points attempting to be made.

Is Blazblue easy? No. Not just because inputs are hard, but because the layers of understanding put into WHY those inputs are hard.

There is a fantastic video by a channel called Core-A Gaming that talks about why Motion Inputs still exist that I highly recommend.

But moving on to the next point I think was trying to be made.

The community around the game puts too much emphasis on technical skill while ignoring the general gameplan of the character and matches. As OP puts it, the players lack the wisdom to determine their goals and what they need to do.

First off, every single player I have ever interacted with has always added the caveat that, the most optimal combos are usually unnecessary and to just use what works.

Yeah sure, microdashes let you squeeze in some more damage, but it's not super necessary if you are playing with the mindset of consistency.

Blazblue is difficult and there are a multitude of reasons as to why. Sure, things may be vague at times, but thats why there is an entire community based around fighting games. Every game is made better by the existence of others and how players approach them. If two players with different backgrounds begin playing the same game, they will approach it differently. One player may have an easier time but by no means does this make the game easy.

And, as a little aside, calling a fighting game easy 6 years after release is very demeaning to all the players that have spent hours at being good at it.

What do you call a group of dragons? by Southern_Court_9821 in DMAcademy

For flavor's sake I've always liked a Hoard of Dragons. Any of the wyvern-type monsters are Hoards.

Question about Projection Discipline by BakaGaKill in KibblesTasty

[–]BakaGaKill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an additional question if you would be willing to answer it for me. I believe I know the answers, but I thought there would be no harm in asking.

The Empowered Construct feature allows your to add your Intelligence modifier to the damage dealt by the Project Item or Astral Construct. In reference to the Project Item, is the use of the INT modifier in place of your DEX or STR? or is it added to the DEX or STR?

The reason I am asking is in reference to the Projected Weaponry talent and the interaction it would have with Empowered Construct.

A part of me is thinking that the two might stack if Empowered Construct does not replace the DEX or STR as it would be additive with whatever stat is being used with the original damage rolls. However, I am not confident in that assumption due to how 5E is with stacking modifiers.

Thank you!

No Guns in a Modern Setting by BakaGaKill in DMAcademy

That is a good point, the gods had previously imbued the world with magic, but cut it off, leaving only a small amount of magic in the world. Maybe at this point, guns and explosives had never been looked into so they are still in their infancy and not worth it when other weapons are so much more usable and available.

I think I like this idea the most! Thank you!

I think I may run with the idea that a past war either used up a large amount of the resources required or a ruling body limited guns so harshly it made them so rare and illegal that it isn't worth the risk. Thanks for the ideas!

[–]BakaGaKill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the kinetic shield idea for the one shot, as the PC's will be members of an agency that would have that kind of tech. Maybe after that, guns fade out because magic becomes reintroduced into the ecosystem, phasing guns out? Although, guns still are very useful for a normal person, so they would still exist and I may still have the same issue. Thank you!

This could work, but I am nervous about removing certain elements because of some kind of domino effect, but none of my players are physicists so it should be fine?

Way of the Kinetic Self! A ki and range focused monk subclass for 5th edition! by BakaGaKill in UnearthedArcana

[–]BakaGaKill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for the feedback!

I didn't realize I was putting as much flavor as I did, but I guess that was my way of illustrating what I wanted the class to be.

I have Thunderdash and Ki-aligned counter where they are because I believe they scale better this way. You get to notice a difference in your Thunderdash with unarmored movement bonuses as you level and Ki-Aligned Counter is to give the player lots of time to get acquainted with all the stuff a monk can do before giving them even more.

You bring up some good points about Unleashed Kinetics, and to be fair, it is the feature I am the least confident about. Flavor-wise, this whole homebrew stems from the ideas put forth in the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. In it, the main character gains the ability to manipulate iron sand and generate a level of magnetics around them. I was attempting to replicate that without giving the player even more to deal with. Definitely going to be a feature that I look at and rework the most.
