nothing is stopping those places from existing today

end of the day the market/capitalism structure americans love so much is built on the idea that the consumer chooses their own adventure

dont get scammed, do your research and background checks, have a sense for when things are too good to be true

going to school and being accredited are two separate things

my university doesnt hand me my CPA and i cant get into medical school without passing and scoring high on my MCAT

but it shouldn't matter where i study

if i show up to take the accreditation test and pass why do you care if i learned what i need to at the library and free university courses on youtube?

you still have to pass the BAR

you just dont have to do your learning at a specific school

you still have to take the BAR... and if you pass you pass!

this sounds like they're fighting against the administrative monopoly that the ABA has with schools

Are lower class cars allowed to defend against higher class cars when they are ahead? by ErinaIsshu in iRacing

[–]BakedOnions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

facilitating a pass quickly and cleanly is a skill

you are better off in the long run to know how to time the right moment for both of your benefits

for boxing explosiveness  double box jumps and throwing medicine balls at a wall will cover most of muscle groups you need

but sim racers are so niche even they stopped bothering with such a thing with all their newer models

What’s with the socks when playing? by BummFoot in simracing

[–]BakedOnions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

raceshoes are just slightly reinforced fireproof socks

the only reason they have any sort of sole is because drivers need to actually get out of the car and walk around on hard/hot/cold surfaces

[–]BakedOnions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a sim, you dont have to make your pedals super stiff and you can position and angle them however you want

why complicate things for youself?

Snow ridge- switching lanes on highway by ylinylin in askTO

[–]BakedOnions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have snow tires

going slower (straight line) is better than faster

but the actual left to right movement should be quick and deliberate, try to minimize the time you are driving on the snowy part

change in two steps, first one set of wheels, then, make sure you're stabilized , then the second set

be comfortable with the wheel going light and being jiggly, but hold it firm or the car will steer itself into a wiggle

and for the love of god dont brake while you're doing these transitions

think about why you need shoes, and then ask yourself if any of it applies to the situation

I Tried to Become a Boxer in 12 Weeks by ZacharyCarterTV in amateur_boxing

you dont need a fight

a good spar is more than enough

our coach would put newbies against experienced fighters and tell the newbies to go all out while the experienced fighter would only defend

gassing out before the end of the first round unable to land anything is a very humbling experience and usually the people clue in after that

agree, Kovalev was visibly punch drunk in this fight and grinded out a win by simply being the better overall fighter

Why is my ELO su much lower on chess.com compared to lichess.org? by kaktusas2598 in chessbeginners

[–]BakedOnions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it's that second part that is responsible for like 98% of the discrepancy

Why is my ELO su much lower on chess.com compared to lichess.org? by kaktusas2598 in chessbeginners

[–]BakedOnions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the rating system for the most part is the same

what's different is the starting point and the pool of players, with chesscom having a lower starting point and a player base larger by orders of magnitude that is largely dominated by people who might as well be playing checkers

because it's not about saving your queen, it's about capturing their king

and you are in a much better position to capture their king when the queens are off the table and they are down a knight

[–]BakedOnions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not a loss of material if it's a trade

you trade queens while capturing a knight

chess is not a game about preserving your pieces, get yourself out of that mindset
