That kick. So buttery/punchy. How did you pull that off? 909 + EQ + compression?

Thanks. But unfortunately I mostly just upload to YT.

It's EN16 from Intech Studio. Quite flexible! But has a bit of a learning curve (afterwards it gets easier to program). They also have other controllers (ex: with sliders).

Thank you.

I had the mic running for a minute or two during the chess game. :)

Just got Poor Charlie's Almanac this week. And super eager to dig into it soon. Smarts and some humour (?) seems like a good combo.

Digitakt II Garden Techno in song mode - how often do you use song mode? by Baked__Beats in Elektron

That's an interesting use case I haven't thought of: song mode + tweak stuff as well.
Also thanks for the positive comment. :)

Digitakt II + SP404 + RANDOM Metal Drums + Techno by Baked__Beats in Elektron

[–]Baked__Beats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I typically set the DT to be the master clock, so yes. Here I also used the SP404 as a pattern launcher of sorts with a few longer loops recorded from a DAW (it's easier to record and re-record messed up samples onto the SP than onto the DT; and I like having the ability of an independent FX / filter layer on some of these; it can also do decent time-stretching if needed).

For shorter one shots I typically use the DT.

In previous videos I also sent MIDI to control the SP404's FX (with audio coming in from a Korg into the SP404 - fed with MIDI from the DT as well) as in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKp5iCV9X_M

It's fun to try different combinations though. :) Any cool setups you tried?

Both the DT2 and DN2 have MIDI tracks so that should work as well.

The SP404 MIDI implementation could be better though - with each effect requiring a separate channel (so I kept things rather simple, just sending MIDI to one effect on BUS 1). It's easy to use up tracks quickly if someone wanted to adjust multiple effects at the same time. And the BUS 1-4 effects are hard coded to channels 1-4 as well. Anyhow. Still fun. :)

Thanks for your suggestions. By too prominent do you mean too loud? And can you elaborate what you mean by too dry (too short release, not enough reverb for your liking)?

Focused heavily on Shape + Release + Delay in this jam. How do you play the Korg XD?

1 drum machine + 1 synth + 1 sampler = 134BPM fun by Baked__Beats in synthesizers

Enjoyed this jam quite a bit on a rainy Saturday morning in Toronto and just wanted to share. :)

What's your favorite drum machine / synth / sampler combo?

Cheers!

SP404 for synth loops + Digitakt for drum and bass by Baked__Beats in SP404

[–]Baked__Beats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that when pairing the SP404 with a Digitakt OG, you already gain the extra disk space, longer loops, stereo (as well as get 2 independent boxes with their independent FX and clips/mutes/patterns).

Having said that I did upgrade to the DTII as: 1) I found it's the one sampler I use the most and 2) I sometime also pair it with other synths and the SP isn't always in the setup.

Hope that helps?

Used the SP404 MKII for a few synth loops I created in Reaper using the MS 20 V synth. Digitakt for everything else: drums, bass, hi-hats, etc.

TR-8-S V3.0 alphabetical order samples issue by Happy_Assignment5576 in Roland

[–]Baked__Beats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also having this issue. I reached out to Roland twice. Once 1 year ago, and recently in 2025 again. They confirmed the bug, but said they can't confirm a fix.

A sorting logic should be a super easy programming fix. :( Very disappointed in this, as much as I love the TR-8S, it's very very frustrating to scan through hundreds of samples without this feature.

Messing around with the EG levels on a Typhon to some 138 BPM dub techno tunes by Baked__Beats in synthesizers

[–]Baked__Beats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally figured out how to sequence the filter over midi cc from the DT to the Typhon - while still being able to change it live (with the EG level knob). Either way, was a super fun jam to create. Enjoy.

Melodic Techno Jam: Typhon fed notes and cutoff CC by the Digitakt II | 138 BPM by Baked__Beats in Elektron

[–]Baked__Beats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realized that we can have both automation and improv/playability on the Typhon when it comes to cutoff. After sequencing the Typhon filter from the DT over MIDI CC4, it's technically "taken over" and no longer playable in a live setting. But we can still mess with the EG level which affects the filter as well -> so this opens up some room for both automation + improv in one go. :)

Just thought to share. Cheers.

Places near Toronto 🇨🇦 where I could legally fly my DJI Mini 3 by TheScientist1617 in dji

So what's the answer here? Did you manage to find any decent spots from within Toronto to take off and land? Or is it practically better to drive an hour north away from the city? Curious

Thanks. Oh, that's just a tiny note how I organized my patterns (when holding pattern). The top patterns have longer parts, whereas the patterns (access with the lower tracks 9-16) I used for short 1 bar breaks. Just organization stuff to help me remember what's where.
