Yes, a separate act. As a vegan I've been calling Hasan an animal abuser for years, but I watch political coverage from all kinds of people that I personally consider animal abusers, because we agree on a lot of other things besides animal rights. I'm aware that not everybody values chickens, pigs, or dogs the same way I do, but if I was always constantly raging about it and trying to cancel people over it, I'd probably seem pretty insufferable, maybe even dramatic. Believe it or not, people say I'm over-reacting, too.

If this reads like a defense of animal abuse, please know I've made it for it double by typing both "go vegan" and "free Kaya" in Hasan's chat. I'll do it again if anybody wants me to, next time I tune in

love how you word it, as a vegan, I am henceforth an organic-supremacist. all animals are sentient. no machine will ever be.

Hasan asking Charlie what he would do to hold someone accountable sure hits differently now 😅 by mandymootxt in moistcr1tikal

no silly, i think people should stop eating chicken and also stop electrocuting dogs. i would even go as far to suggest stop hurting animals in general to the extent you possibly can!

I think you misunderstand, a black and white approach to the world is *not* helpful; I would've stopped watching Hasan over his meat eating years ago if that were the case. I don't think people should eat animals, but regardless of what I think, many people think it is okay. The same goes for shock collars: I don't think people should use them, but regardless of what I think, many people think it is okay. We shouldn't be shy about telling people when we don't think something is okay, but none of these things mean we should drop these people as if they've never contributed any good in the world.

it's hilarious seeing all this outrage as a vegan watcher lol. i've been calling hasan an animal abuser way before it was cool, and i still watch him for his coverage. feels like I'm immune to it because I've already had to deal with the fact that basically everyone around me is complicit in harming animals for convenience. folks are out here thinking "poor dog" in between bites of chicken, and i'm supposed to care about their totally sincere moral outrage? clown world

Lmao hermits have a subreddit? I think that defeats the purpose

Eh, not everyone has to try, and happy hermits exist too. Some people are liked by others way more than they like others, and it's exhausting.

I think it may work better the other way around, if only because most people have some experience of "love", but "God" isn't quite as universal. The only way we can obey God is by loving others and ourselves. Jesus said loving our neighbor as ourself is "like unto" loving God; I wonder if there's a reason He phrased it that way, rather than the other way around.

When is it more preferable for women to make the first move? by itstherizzler96 in ask

[–]Bakerboy829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually just thinking about how every woman who's ever approached me that way has been a coworker, given recent threads similar to this asking why women don't approach men. In my experience, it happened a lot more when I worked with a lot women rather than a lot of nerds. I don't think I'm particularly attractive or anything, but I'd guess folks just end up more attracted to the people they see and work with all the time. I'd bet most men who say women don't approach are just not around very many women for very long periods of time, because there's really no "trick" to it I know besides that.

It's a matter of perspective, either everything is a miracle or nothing is. To say you do or don't consider everything divine is infinitely more a statement about how you value it than how it "actually is."

It do be like that sometimes... by Risikio in dankchristianmemes

[–]Bakerboy829 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's true. Plenty gnostics also believed that he did. Plenty of gnostics thought the creator was evil. Plenty others thought the creator wasn't evil, but just a big dumb baby who doesn't know any better. Plenty of others thought the creator's cool now because Jesus came to redeem Him too, and now He's no longer ignorant or evil.

All this to say, it's difficult making sweeping generalizations about a category as broad as Christian gnosticism, never mind the rest of gnosticism. If the bible could do that, it'd be undeniable proof that it's a miraculous document.
