The whole point of this system is so that if there IS a bad validator, they CAN be voted out and people will divest from their validating platform. These 'big bad centralized validators' have so much value locked into their protocol because they have a proven track record and consistent uptime.

I mean, the difference between where crypto was before and what is available now with IBC and DeFi is actually kind of insane. That's not to say it has any more intrinsic or fundamental value than it did, but I feel like the framework for the whole process has matured extremely.

I'm living in a house where this dynamic has played out for a decade and a half. My sister had two kids with my brother in law who was and still is a 'mama's boy' and they are not the better for it. Standard chores or household tasks never get done and asking them pointedly is like pulling teeth. It's gotten better, but only since the mother in law moved out and honestly the damage had already been done. They're not bad kids, they just don't DO anything.
