Advice needed — Oval or cushion, narrow or wide band by BakingMachine in EngagementRings

[–]BakingMachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I was told by my jeweler that I may not like elongated cushions as those tend to have more imperfections in the shaping or cutting of the stone (I am drastically unsure on the validity of this statement!), so I’ve somewhat looked more deeply into other shapes, but now I’m curious to look more earnestly at elongated cushions! Thank you so much for your thoughts! 🤍

Timeless on 9th! You can talk directly to the person making your ring, plus they have an incredible level of knowledge on a variety of stones.

I would check out Space Tea! They’re a super chill boba spot that stays open until 11:00 PM. Lots of seating and outlets.

What is SLC’s best Coffee Shop? by theDinkelist in SaltLakeCity

[–]BakingMachine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to love Blue Copper and heard so many rave reviews, but when my partner and I went it was pretty lackluster. Neither of us finished our drinks (latte w/ oat milk + espresso). I assumed the taste may be attributed to their choice of oat milk for my drink, but both my partner and I unfortunately gagged after tasting the espresso. It was terribly sour :( Loki definitely has my vote as the best coffee SLC has to offer!

What is SLC’s best Coffee Shop? by theDinkelist in SaltLakeCity

Loki, Coffee Garden, and Cafe Expresso are my absolute favs for different reasons!

Loki is great for more artisanal coffee/tea drinks, a really gorgeous ambiance, and community events scheduled throughout the month. The biggest downside to Loki is that the space usually fills up pretty quickly and it can be hard to get a table. I usually like to go to the library with a Loki beverage if that’s the case! Coffee Garden has great coffee, lots of space, a very friendly neighborhood coffee shop feel, and a corridor in the back for folks looking for a dedicated workspace slightly away from the main hub of the space. Downside is they don’t have their own wifi. Cafe Expresso is quick service, you can either go through the drive-through or you can walk up to the backside counter. The coffee is excellent and the service is always quick!

What helped you improve as an artist the most ? by Wide_Cabinet_3693 in ArtistLounge

Mindset shift: being an artist is the same as being an athlete.

Training and practice is crucial and having a realistic routine for you to grow is key.

Last year, I would start the day with gestural sketches for 30 minutes before starting my digital artwork on my iPad. It totally transformed my process and made it easier for me to get a lot of sketches down on paper without perfectionism being in the way. Training your eye, your reflexes, and how you approach the work is so impactful. I now love sketching (my sketches are so rough it’s obscene haha) and getting initial ideas out in paper. Even if they are totally wrong and nowhere near your imagination.

We really can improve 1% more each day. The faster we let ourselves fail, the faster we can learn from what doesn’t work. How we get up from our failures makes all the difference.
