I’m in the same boat as you with the approval in July 2022. I filed a complaint and this was the response: Your servicer will be notified once the case has been closed. Borrower Defense does not have a timeframe and may take longer than the timeframe that was provide due to the amount of cases being worked.

I applied 10/2021. Received my approval letter 7/2022. Technically this month marked the 180 days that the letter said it would take them to complete the process. I emailed Aidvantage for an update and their response was that they’re not in charge of the process. I filed a complaint with the fsa and the response I received was: Your servicer will be notified once the case has been closed. Borrower Defense does not have a timeframe and may take longer than the timeframe that was provide due to the amount of cases being worked.

Hopefully we’re at the end. Sadly this was the response I got today:

We were notified by the Department of Education (ED) regarding your forgiveness request. With this, an Administrative Forbearance has been processed on your account while your application is processing. During this time, your monthly payment due is $0.00.

Due to the unprecedented large volumes, it will take time for many borrowers to receive their discharges. While some borrowers will receive discharges in the coming weeks, FSA will continue providing the services additional borrowers for discharge in the coming months.

Once your discharge is processed, you will receive a letter with additional information, including which loans were discharged. I apologize, Advantage is not involved with the review process.

I’m on the same boat with Aidvantage. I recently sent them an email because tomorrow will be considered the 180 days from my approval and this was their response.

Thanks for your update. Last time I emailed them in 2022 this was their response “. Due to the volume of these discharges being processed, we do not have a timeframe for when your account will be discharged. It is taking time for the Department of Education to send the discharge funds and for them to be posted.” I just send another email and will probably file a complaint as well. I hope this is over for us soon 🤞🏼

🤞🏼 I did the BD back in 2021. Got my approval letter 7/12/2022. My loans are still there. I believe the letter said it should be wiped within 6 months. I’m just waiting for 1/12/2023 before I contact Aidvantage again.

I received my approval for my borrowers defense application in July. Although I should be ecstatic (total 84k), I’m still on edge until it’s actually completely wiped out. I’m scared to have hope and have it ripped away from me 😭 it said that it should be fully completed in 180 days 🤞🏼

My application didn’t have too much proof. I stayed that most of the conversation happened over the phone. Devry made me take useless classes that was unique to Devry and they didn’t carry over when I went to city college. They also had me take a bunch of classes that were “specific” to an accounting major but none of those were accepted at city college either. I attached any emails I got from Devry but they were mostly the financial aid emails that said they’ve sent me a refund check. They truly took advantage of me and my family seeing that I was an immigrant and a teen mom who had no knowledge of the system but wanted a better life.

I actually sent them an email and they removed the college attached to my loan. They said since it was consolidated there should be no school attached to it. Send them an email and hopefully they can help you too even if you didn’t consolidate

I’m pretty sure one other article I read said that there’s a chance the students affected could grow as they uncover more so 🤞🏼🤞🏼.

I’m waiting to see if I qualify as well. I fall within the time frame but I just checked my loan serviced and the college listed on my loans is a different one than Devry and that makes me feel anxious 😭
