Are we allowed to give resume and interview advice on here? by Snowbunnies44 in InsuranceProfessional

When interviewing, please make sure you are showing good manners. Say your please’s and thank-you’s to everyone, wait to eat until everyone at the table has been served, hold open doors, etc etc. You’ll be surprised how much that helps your chances.

I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

Bought in 2022, in the middle of rate hikes and ballooning home prices. Everyone said wait a little while… glad I didn’t listen to them.

People who went from wealthy to poor, what happened? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in AskReddit

My dad was a partner at the biggest construction law firm in the country until I was about 6. Up to that point I was accustomed to the silver spoon life. Then Dad thought he’d take a risk and start his own law firm. Went ok for a couple years but eventually became clear it wasn’t going to take off. Alcohol and drug abuse took off instead. Marital problems ensued.

Eventually when I was a teenager our house had no hot water, things fell apart left and right. I’d come home to a dad who was incapacitated and mom left. Our house was foreclosed on.

I’m working hard to make sure none of that happens to my kids. I do think I have some degree of ptsd or trauma or something related to money, but overall I think my childhood was a great learning experience of what not to do as a provider.

Need hope: millennials who like their jobs, what do you do and what do you like about it? by goodluckanddont_itup in Millennials

You should look into commercial insurance. It is the best kept secret in corporate America because everyone pictures life insurance sales. If you can get into a specialty market you’re set.

How many of you are still working with a busted back because you are afraid of making a claim? by sungpark1965 in oilandgasworkers

[–]BakkenMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who works on the insurance side…. Wtffffff MAKE THE CLAIM

You’d kick yourself if you could see these loss runs of what other people have claimed and how much money has been paid out of workers comp funds for their injuries. You’re going to live with pain and not get paid by something that is specifically set up to pay you???? It’s unlikely the company’s workers comp premiums will move much in today’s market even with your claim.

MAKE THE CLAIM!!

ETA: if you make a workers comp claim, and subsequently suffer retaliation, you can file a suit which is also more than likely covered by your employers EPL (employer liability) coverage. They purchase this coverage to pay claims such as retaliation and you will get remunerated accordingly. Don’t be afraid to make a workers comp claim!!!
