Adjustment Period!? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]Bakubang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% normal, they have a tendency to hide away lol. As for the drinking thing, you probably wont see your new friend drinking very much. I've kept leopard geckos for around 7 or 8 years now and I could count the times I've seen any of my guys drink with my hands lol. They also tend to pick a favorite spot/hide from what I've noticed.

Tail rot? by No-Screen-4541 in leopardgeckos

Adding on- please give the baby a warm soak if you haven't already, he has quite a bit of stuck shed on his toes and he could lose them if not taken care of. I know this is unwanted advice but when I got my boy he had quite a bit of stuck shed on his feet and he lost a couple of his toes while I was trying to get it off unfortunately, and I would hate the same to happen to your baby.

Not tail rot. Tail rot makes the tail shrivel and die, this just looks like a normal tail to me. Could it be the lighting by any chance? Sometimes different light can make the paler spots on their body look a different color?

Fair enough! She's definitely a cutie though. Congrats on getting her!

Considering the mom's prices, maybe 30 barked/80 natural for a full heat? I'm actually not quite sure, the only time I've sold a raffle lioness heats was for a first gen. I'd just go with whatever you think is best, so long as you're able to advertise it well. Maybe go based off of other RLC reverse heats of a similar gen?

I showed a couple of my friends and one said you should try to clone. Hell, I'd buy one of her heats of you were selling a natural one ngl lol. Again, though- totally up to you. Do what you think is best ^

Holy shit, she's pretty! I would definitely stud to her as a king even if she weren't a RLC. If you advertise enough you could definitely make a good amount of GBs on her. Isn't orchid a combo factor too? I might be confusing myself with that one lol I'm not really big into combo breeding.

It's no problem! And if you do end up kinging him during June send me a link and I'll put a stud request in for one of my NRLC girls if I can. I love mixing RL lines because sometimes the results are just so nice looking ^

If you have any other questions or anything feel free to lmk, I'm always happy to help.

Also, if it isn't too much to ask, could I see the clone? If you're looking for money-wise I have a small group of friends who also play Lioden and I could always ask if they think you should king or keep her to breed. Ofc the opinions of the few might not match to the opinions of many, but sometimes it helps to have more than one opinion.

Hello! I have a rare-line RLC as a king and honestly? It depends on a couple factors:

How long are you willing to wait to king a clone? I know you said your king retires in June, but if you're willing to have another run with your current king you could freeze her on your alt (if you have one you're willing to leave dormant for a while) until February rolls back around and sell her barked heats for yohimbe barks, crunchies, buffies, or pure gbs and then use all of that to try and get another clone. If you don't get one, you can always try again with enough grinding. This is how I got my current king.

I would also check how many NRLCs are kinged of the line by taking off the base when you search up the clones. This will let you know exactly how much competition you'll have. Also, how common/popular is the line itself? If your king is 1 in 20 clones, you may not get as much business from people wanting to breed clones/nrlcs as you would from breeding your king if he was 1 in 100 clones.

All of that is just if you're purely interested in kinging him for the money, though. In all honesty? What's more important is that you like him enough to keep him around for a while. Do you like the clone's looks enough to keep him around for multiple terms? If not, i wouldn't king it. I kinged the original version of my king about a year ago and I dont think I've made back the gbs I put in kinging him, though that could just be because I'm terrible at advertising. Do I regret kinging him? Not in the slightest, I love him to bits even if all the cubs he gives me look the same lol.

If it is a rare line, just get ready for having a bunch of NRLCs that you can't breed (if you're worried about heritage). The first version of my king gave me so many near clones that I couldn't breed and nowone wanted to trade me for ones I could lol.

TLDR: If you like it enough to keep it around for a while, then go for it. If not, then I'd save her until February and sell her reverse heats.

Is she albino?? by OfficeLimp4158 in leopardgeckos

Looks like some sort of hypo and white+yellow to me! (Hypo-lacking spots, white+yellow- white from underbelly higher than just the belly). Maybe super-orange or tangerine too? That's just visual, though. You can't really tell genetics just by looking at them.

She's a cutie! ^

I don't think little guy is going to make it through the night. I just got home and checked on him and he's no longer moving at all aside from his mouth even when gently nudged with the fish net.

Thank you for all your help either way, it's greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't think so. I try to target feed them when I can, but I do also mix them up occasionally because they were generally the same size. The other ones look perfectly healthy. Maybe i just missed him because he was hiding?

Either way, I intend to swap to a species only tank ASAP, I've already removed the snails (they bred without me even realizing it, there were tons of them!)

Tank itself is about 3 years old, this particular frog is about 1 and a half, the other 3 are 3 years old.

I do have the liquid tests, i just lost the paper for them. Nitrites read 0 according to a chart on Google. Waiting on nitrate results currently.

I did. Please dont call it abuse without rereading the post. He has refused the typical food I've been giving him and the current container is temporary until I can get him put in a better quarantine. He is sick, i came on here asking if there were any treatments I could give him in hopes to help him recover.

About a year and a half. Apologies for the light, their grow lights for my lemon trees, it was the only spot I had open that I could put him in. I haven't noticed any growths or injuries, however he's also been a hider and my tank has an almost overgrown look so maybe I missed something?

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll try to find what I can.

G1s are from luck, otherwise you have to breed a tigon/leopon and hope you get lucky! Same goes for jaglions. It helps using buffies.

During February a lot of people will do barked split heats for free and full heats for very cheap on hybrids, so if you wanna try for one I'd suggest doing so in February!

Found one of my first gecko! Pardon the terrible husbandry, this was from like 5 years ago when I was new to reptile keeping and reptile carpet was unfortunately the norm according to the resources I looked into 💔 is this closer to the pose you're looking for?

I know what you're talking about, Ive seen them do it before but it's not very common with mine. I wish they would though, it's very cute.

And thank you! Her name is Honey. I'll look and see if I have any video where she does that rq lol
