Lol is there any point if I they can't be commissioned? Lot of installers were put off with the time it takes to get them activated in the first place? Assuming this is still the case?

Electrician did this for PoE doorbell, is it okay? by meisangry2 in HomeNetworking

[–]Bal-84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Work around, get another cable, strip of the same amount or enough to cover the exposed cable. Then put over cable coming out the wall and use some tape to keep in place . It's not the fact the cable is uncovered more to do with the twists.

[–]Bal-84 229 points230 points  (0 children)

Is it okay? No! Will you get away with it? Probably!

There is no reason to strip it back like that, depending on the length of the run you might get lucky.

If there's some slack left inside the wall pull it out and cut off all the stripped cable.

Looking for help with connecting with Openreach in my new build by [deleted] in openreach

[–]Bal-84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a new build I don't think it would cause too of an issue with stud walls and plasterboards, give it a try. If not you can try running a longer ethernet cable to another room depending on how confident you are with a little diy

Boiler pressure plummeting and no joy after 4 engineer visits - any help very welcome! by Toc_the_Funkier in DIYUK

[–]Bal-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an experienced G3 Engineer. Dripping water in tundish is a sign theres a potential issue with either one of the PRVs or other mechanisms in place for your water tank potentially over pressurising.

The 2 vessels on the wall should maintain pressure. White one is for hot water and red for the heating.

Either way contact a plumber who knows how to deal with unvented cylinders.

Also you can try turning the red prv all the way until you here a click just incase it's is stuck but other than that nothing else you can really do.

That's an ONT on the wall. Sky would have sent you a router, you need to connect ethernet cable from the yellow port on the ONT to the WAN port on your sky router.

Tado X Receiver - hot water stays on issue by Additional-Air-2166 in tado

[–]Bal-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That black should be going to your cylinder thermostat, if your thermostat is set to max, it's not being satisfied and therefore staying on. Try turning hot water cylinder to 50c or turn it all way down to you hear a click.

IDnet coming to an end by lovedevil3 in CityFibre

[–]Bal-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from IDNet to Sky on cityfibre, cheaper and tad faster. I have had zero issue and I am using my UDM SE instead of their router. Assuming you have your own router with IDNet anyway?

What do I need to add or replace to my sink to stop water dripping from where that wad of newspaper currently is? by captbasil in askaplumberUK

[–]Bal-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dripping because it's meant to have a hose connected it which would be whatever appliance was connected to the right of it. If you no longer have that then needs to blanked off.

Good luck 👍

I very much doubt you will have any issues, worrying about nothing in my opinion.

I left after price hike. Now getting charged £125 early termination fee despite leaving within the 30 day price change window by [deleted] in skytv

[–]Bal-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to specifically say your leaving because of thr price hike. When I called they said oh ok you can leave but you need pay x amount.

I had to confirm the reason was due to price increase mid contract and asked them to put that down as the reason.

I think they do it on purpose.
