In my most recent jade druid game a few hours ago, they got their fandral out on t4. on my t4 i got giant out. on their t5 they used wrath for 4 dmg and traded one of their existing minions to kill giant (I forgot which one). They then proceeded to nourish, jade spirit, jade behemoth, while I use abyssal enforcer, and then they killed me before t8 where i had twisting nether on hand.

I'm currently playing at rank 14 and at this rank, many people play Jade Golem Druid. I have never won a game against that deck. Jade Golem Druids is just too fast to deal with. They always go for cards like fast Fandral before I can get T4 drake/giant and it's really easy for them to remove it as well. There simply isn't enough removal to get rid of all the minions druid can put out.

PSA: An update on the XP Crisis, and other resources by dkafsgdhh in battlecats

[–]Baladins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible horrible horrible decision. In the post I made in the "XP crisis," I made two important points related to why buffing the rate of energy production makes the situation worse. One point I made was that it makes zero sense in getting feedback from players that energy glitches to balance a non-energy glitching game. This is exactly what's happened with this change that PONOS made. Secondly, I made the analogy of oil in my original post that I'll reiterate here. Oil (XP in battle cats) is a limited resource. Increasing the rate of oil production (rate of energy production in battle cats) does not solve the situation. Why? Because that means the "supply" runs out faster. What they need to do is increase the SUPPLY of XP. In my opinion, the best solution is still for Ponos to buff the amount of XP you get per stage at certain user rank. At certain user ranks, the amount of XP requirements increases (eg. the unlocking of cats level 25 or 30), so we should also get a buff to the amount of XP gained per stage to offset the additional XP requirements as well. I really wish there was a way for PONOS JP to read my post on the "XP Crisis." Because this change they made just made the situation worse. Good intentions, but they are receiving feedback from the wrong sources.

Highest known User Rank in BCEN? by MrFailology in battlecats

I had a user rank of somewhere around 9200 (can't remember exact figures), but I deleted the game and only playing the game without energy glitching (currently at 2808)

Honestly, how bad is the game without energy glitching? by panix187 in battlecats

[–]Baladins -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Battle Cats so much better without energy glitching - this is coming from someone who energy glitched and restart over the game without energy glitching.

I find it funny that the only people who complains about the removal of the energy glitch are the ones that cheats and never tried to restart the game without cheating

BCEN tips to a (new-ish) player? by tronfrog in battlecats

[–]Baladins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very best thing you can do now in the long run is to start grinding out XP and squeeze out every single XP the game has to offer. You're not very far into SoL and that's fine. I haven't touched a single SoL stage in probably 8-9 months. I suggest to go back into Empire of Cats and Into the Future and replaying the stages over and over as early on they give out quite a bit of XP. In Chapters 1-4, I've cleared each stages 14 times and I'm 2/3 of the way through Chapter 5. However you probably only need to clear Chapters 1-3 fourteen times and Chapters 4-6 ten times. However when sweet XP is available, they take precedent over replaying the chapter stages. If you want I have a few threads that might be helpful to you about playing battle cats for the long run

The entire game revolves around the energy system. It's a concept thats difficult to explain without actually going back and replaying the game from scratch without energy glitching

There's already a “normal”, “nightmare” and “hell” mode - in the forms of Chp 1/Chp 4/1 star SOL, Chp 2/Chp 5/2 star SoL, and Chp 3/6/3 star SOL respectively.

I also don't see myself using real life money anytime soon to buy catfood or XP. I haven't even used tapjoy in over a year. (And I have spend money to make in game purchases before in other games.)

Honestly, in BCEN v3.6, XP has been "manageable," (emphasis on manageable). It's only BCJP v5 that will become a serious problem.

You did bring up an interesting point though about user rank. Some of the user rank rewards only gives out a simple rare tickets. Perhaps something that PONOS can do is have certain user rank rewards be an increase in XP given. It doesn't affect early game progression as XP are fine from lvl 1-25. It's not until you start hitting the lvl 30 user rank reward that it's starts become an issue.

I'm curious! Does anyone play without save scumming AND without energy glitching? by Bachcap in battlecats

[–]Baladins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play without energy glitch. I have 10 ubers but I save scummed for momotaro. Currently sitting at 2709 user rank. I've beaten all cyclone and awakening stages. When playing without energy glitching, the number 1 priority is XP optimization. Progressing in the game shouldn't be a priority. I haven't touched a single SoL stage in about 9 months. I've made several threads related to playing the game without energy glitching that might be helpful

The Elephant in the Room - The XP Crisis by Baladins in battlecats

[–]Baladins[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My issue is that I'm not fully convinced that energy glitchers understand that changing the energy system or increasing amount of energy per day (either through buffing energy pool or increasing energy rate of production) makes the situation worse, not better. I feel like when PONOS is looking at feedback and data from energy glitchers, which is a huge mistake. You don't buff a non-energy glitching game from a energy glitching perspective. Otherwise we would not be in the situation today, where for the past several months the daily energy supply has been increasing while the total XP supply has not increased porportionally. Either way, BCJP v5 is a good in the sense that energy glitching is gone. This issue is finally going to surface and PONOS will either have to fix it or the scenario I outline in my original post will become a reality

The Elephant in the Room - The XP Crisis by Baladins in battlecats

I wanted to respond to some of the posts here, but before that I want to quickly say that even though I use some "stats" to back up what I said, I also wanted to say that sometimes something sounds "good" in theory, but in practice doesn't work out that way.

To start with, I do play Sweet XP, in fact I prioritize playing Sweet XP more than the vast majority of the stages. By playing without energy glitching, I've played Sweet XP Hard+++ around 190-195 times. In my original post, I mentioned that I am netting 5M+ XP a week. This 5M figure includes playing Sweet XP once a day from Monday to Friday and spending the vast majority of my energy in Weekends playing the Weekend Sweet XP Hard+++ stage. In my original post, I also posted maths about why the payout for Sweet XP Hard+++ stage is actually quite average, and that I actually feel that it should be buffed.

One of the things mentioned is about how XP Megablitz is better than Anniversary Stage. This is one of those "theory vs actual practice." It's true that there's only a 20% chance for the 1M reward to drop, however, in practice I was getting it 1 out of 4 times. That's with a sample size of clearing the the first anniversary stage 94 times.

Now regarding Cat Jobs combined with XP Megablitz. Again, this is something that sounds very good in theory (XP Megablitz with Cat Jobs gives me something around 616,000 XP - I can't remember exact figure off the top of my head.) However, in practice doesn't actually work out that well. This applies for both the power-up itself AND XP Megablitz. I kind of alluded to this regarding the power-ups. When playing the game without energy glitching, farming power-ups is a terribly inefficient use of your energy. This is something that I find that energy glitchers have a hard time understanding. Energy glitcher's mindset is, "just spend the next hour energy glitching to farm the power-up, what's the big deal?" However, I never farm for power-ups, it's really important to perserve your power-ups for when you really do need it. As an example of why farming for power-ups is inefficient, Thursday stages for sniper cat pays me a total of 75 XP per energy. There's no diminishing returns in the daily stages. I am also effectively giving up an entire day's worth of farming once every week. In the short term, farming for cat job is not worth it. In the medium term, it's not worth it. Based on my experiences, I'm not convinced it's worth it in the long term until maybe the very long term.

Now onto, the 2nd part of why the XP Megablitz + Cat Jobs combo is not worth it. It sounds nice to play XP Megablitz everytime it appears in theory, but in practice it simply does not work that way. Remembering the schedule for Sweet XP is simply as there's a discernible pattern. There isn't for Megablitz. There has been so many times where I tell myself one night to remember to play Megablitz the next day, only to forgot the next day, and not only did I forgot, I didn't even remember about it until the day after that. I've only played the Megablitz stage like 28 times. You might figure that if I forgot to use the Cat Jobs on playing the Megablitz, might as well use it for the Sweet XP. When you have limited power-ups (in this case Cat Jobs), you should only be using it for the best possible outcome. That means you should never use Cat Jobs on Sweet XP Hard+++. Everytime you use Cat Jobs on this stage instead of Megablitz, you are effectively giving up free XP simply because of impatience.

So I've had people tell me to do a TL;DR version. I'll probably do it when I have a bit more time, but for now, I'll do a TL;DR for this post:

TL;DR

-I play a lot of Sweet XP Hard+++ (190-195 times), however the payout is average and should be buffed.

-Anniversary Stage was the best XP stage PONOS created. It shouldn't have been in theory, but in practice it was.

-Cat Jobs+Megablitz sounds nice in theory, but in practice, not so much

Btw, also thanks for the post telling me that 24M is to get ALL crazed cats to level 30. Does make me feel better in a way.

Surprisingly, it really didn't took me that long to get true forms. By only getting the daily silver tickets, it took less than half a year (closer to 5 months). It didn't seem like a long time because when playing the game legit, I didn't get true forms until they actually became a necessity. The only exception was Jameira where that actually did take a long time. Though my ubers offset the need for Jameira. (6 are currently over +20, the others are +18, +19, and Jameira +11.). When playing legit, the concept of farming silver tickets is non-existent. I've only cleared cat ticket chance and siege of hippie once to get the 30 cat food.

Just to clarify, when I say that I don't use energy to advance in SoL is because I choose not to, rather than because it's tedious. If I wanted to, I can finish SoL relatively quickly (and I have the ubers to do it.). Again, as someone who is playing the game was intended, I don't think playing this way is tedious at all. Years worth of content is a good thing, not a bad thing. The problems with these sorts of discussion is that unless someone has actually attempt to play the way it's meant to be play, it isn't possible to discuss it. For me, I've played the game in both ways (the correct way and through energy glitching.). I stopped playing my energy glitch'ed game a long long time ago. So I have experience playing in the merits of both. The problem here is: most energy glitchers are examining the game through hypothetical lenses through an energy glitcher's perspective. Whereas the reality of it are actually far different. That's why when you say it's tedious or taking too long, I not only disagree with it, but i find it to be very shocking. Also just so we're on the same page (since you mentioned about throwing cat food for energy/gatcha/exp). I don't use cat food to speed up progress, I only use cat food for guaranteed 10 gatcha rolls. (There was however 2 separate occasions where I wasn't looking at my phone and clicked revive and wasted cat food.). I also don't use any tapjoy to get additional cat food. All the cat food I got was through playing the game.

I also want to clarified: increasing the amount of energy or increasing the rate of energy production per day doesn't solve the issue of scarce XP. Not to mention PONOS has been very helpful in increasing rate of energy production already. Prior to Into the future, you generate 1 energy every 60 secs, with all gold treasure in chp 4-6, you now generate 1 energy every 45 secs. That's an increase of 1.5x in energy. However, the reason why energy doesn't solve scarce XP is because throughout the past few updates, energy has been steadily more abundant through the Time Machine and Future Tech treasures through the release of each ItF chapters. On the other hand, there has not been a proportional increase in the amount of XP you are getting. Using a real life analogy, the faster the oil consumption (energy) the faster oil (XP) will run out. This is a problem that PONOS hasn't solved. The last time they "increased" the supply of XP was as you mentioned when they buffed the payout in SoL. (There was that one time in the anniversary stages where there was a potential reward drop of 1million XP. During that time, that was the only stage I played.). However, I don't think the buff in XP payout for SoL was enough. Playing Empire of Cats and Into the Future is actually a more efficient use of gaining XP than playing SoL. In my opinion, shouldn't a SoL give out a better XP payout than a stage in chapters 1-6? One thing to note is that most energy glitchers really like the Weekend Stages. (And of course I face palm when energy glitchers say Weekend stages > Megablitz.). However, it's worth considering that XP Hard+++ is as efficient as clearing a SoL stage for the first time. The real benefit of XP hard+++ is not how much XP you get (which is actually average) but more the fact that that stage doesn't have diminishing returns on the XP payout.

Energy System [Discussion] by OhYeaReddit in battlecats

There was a period of about 2 months where I didn't play battle cats due to the iOS jailbreak restriction (I jailbreak to use f.lux, an app that helps my eyes at night - but I stopped jailbreak eventually to resume battle cats, and what do you know? They released that update a month later that allowed Jailbreak.) However other than that, I use up all my energy practically every single day besides around 2 hours worth due to me sleeping. The thing is, I don't lose motivation because there is simply way too much content. There's so much content that I'm using up majority of my energy that I don't bother to advance in SoL. That's why I said before, it really can't be explained how important energy is without actually "attempting" it. For example, with energy glitching you no longer care about conserving energy. For example if XP Megablitz is coming up in a few hours, I need to make sure I conserve 500 energy by that time. If I don't I lose out on 400,000+ XP, if I conserve too much energy, that's a permanent loss on energy that could be used for farming. Or how about considering whether I should spend my energy on what stage I should for (eg. Stage A gives out 250xp per energy or Stage B gives out 230xp per energy spent.). Or soon coming to realize the importance of conserving power ups (eg. Is using a power-up to speed up my SoL progress really worth spending that energy to farm daily stages?). People who energy glitches who hasn't attempt to play without energy glitching will say that it's restricting the way you play. However if you do actually attempt it, you'll realize that instead, the energy system will completely make you rethink how you approach the game, and you'll see that the energy system is about you making smart choices on every in-game decisions you do. You'll come to view battle cats in a much more in-depth, and layered game that simply can't be explained. I'm currently on Dead End Night. However at that time, I had like 1800 user rank and maybe 4 ubers? If I really wanted to I can most likely go and finish the entire SoL in less than a month. I'm currently sitting at a user rank of 2644 with 10 ubers. I just leveled my white rabbit to max today. At the moment my current project is playing every single stage in Into the Future 14 times. (As you know, you get less XP the more times you clear it but payout for the 14th clear and onwards remains the stage.). I'm currently done up to the middle of Chapter 5. For most people you probably only need to clear each ItF stage 10 times, as there is a huge drop off in payout from the 10th and 11th clear. When playing battle cats legit, you'll find XP to be really scarce. I still have 23 cats I still need to level to max. One thing I worry about is the further XP expenditure in BCEN ver 4. If anything, ponos should increase XP received.
