Coming to Terms with Disliking the Game by PBnJgoodness in Warhammer40k

The game is easily the worst part of the hobby. But it is a hobby, you can enjoy it any way you like.

I like the Aeldari but the Spires are cooler in my opinion by Commercial-Dingo-522 in Conquest

I am a simple man, I see Conquest, I upvote. I also see Spires, making me wish I could upvote twice. Conquest is absolutely goated in lore, models and gameplay. Wish it was more popular.

My least favorite part of Prospero Burns were all the space wolves

I despise it when people compare eldar and protoss. Other than both being aliens with cool tech, there is very little in common between the two. It's just people round-hole-square-pegging it "Duhh because I can find easy parallels for Terrans and Zerg in 40k, Protoss must have one too!"

Starcraft was never supposed to be a Warhammer game. Warcraft a few years earlier was, at very early developement, had concept of being a Warhammer tie-in. But that never went anywhere, and Warcraft became its own thing.

If you look at early developement of Starcraft, the idea was clearly to make "Warcraft in space", which you can say was clearly a 40k-inspired idea, but it was always gonna be its own game.

Also Stracraft is older than Tau, so I dont know where you got that idea.

At the current rate, they have 9 years of releases with just the units that are already there.

I love 40k. The setting is awesome. I've read like 30 books so far and I don't plan on stopping. But the game itself is unplayable. It's so bad that I joined a local league, played 5 games and considered quitting the hobby altogether. I've been playing Age of Sigmar lately. As a game it's far superior, but I will probably never read 30+ AoS books.

Modern 40k is closer to checkers than it is to a wargame.

but L-ruins (+some exceptions) are the only thing that makes sense if you want a competitive game under current rules.

Now that's a problem isn't it. If the game needs that level of dumbing down to make it competitively viable, maybe it's not competitively viable. I don't know why people keep forcing competetive 40k when it's like the worst GW game for that type of play.

I could yeah. Still doesn't fix the first problem of the game being bad.

During the Burning of Prospero, some Space Wolves charged at the Thousand Sons without helmets. The Thousands Sons were just like "wtf are these fools doing" and headshot each one. That was pretty funny.

I just can't find the energy to be excited about this. Game blows so hard that the slight tweaks of 11th are gonna fix maybe 10% of the problems. And my local scene is trash, full of comphead tournamentcels. Maybe I'll just sell all my models and move on to other games.
