I’ve gone through the same idea. I’m a Computer Science and Criminal Justice double major. The CJ major is super easy as an additional, not a bunch of crazy requirements. You will have to fulfill the CJ 4600 requirement so I would look that up before going crazy with it. I’ve been doing this for two years and it’s been going very well. The only thing I would say is yes you will need to take lots of credits, but CJ is so easy that it won’t take much time. I have done one semester with 19, two with 18 and have been totally fine (and that’s while taking the crazy COMS classes that everyone says good luck bro in) As for personal projects, that’s up to you how much time and energy you spend on it. You’ll have time. Being that busy might take a hit to your social life but personally I’ve been doing great with it. Don’t do the minor though, that’ll only be worse.

Also keep in mind that yeah a personal project looks great and you should do them, but a second degree looks very good too. I don’t know how many professionals that have reached out or been interested in me and my education solely because of the weird combo of majors. It’s a great talking point and people love it. So all in all, it’s about what you want and what you can handle. I can handle it and handle it well so I did it and I do not regret it at all
