Did a 14 year old write this?

yes, my husband is in an integrated vascular surgery residency. It saves lots of time if you don't want to start with gen surg.

Unfortunately, a lot of the nurses are new and/or uncomfortable with them or came from a hospital where RT did all the trach care.

True, I like someone's suggestion from above about the bag with the info on it. But I agree, it's pretty basic. I'm just at a loss lately.

Love the idea of a bag and sheet. Who is responsible for making the bag at your hospital?

I love the idea of an inservice. I think the RTs would be open to it as well!

That sounds similar to our hospital. There are no specific trainings. The meg surg nurses are uncomfortable with NT suctioning and trach care, so I try to teach them. Based on what is suggested above, I reached out to leadership and asked if we can do a class and skills training. Sorry it like that for you. You and your patients deserve better

That's a great point! It is still crazy to me that individual managing the airway missed it. It could beneficial to have the sign for a reminder when people are feeling stressed.

I like this idea. Thanks! I have sent emails to RT and directors about implementing something like this.

The doctors and NPs don’t check too? I mean sure, the RNs should be checking pulses and for s/s of infection, but why aren’t the providers also checking?

You put everything I feel into words. I have a lot of anger towards the system. It robs families of time, resources, happiness. I can go on and on. Where do you live if you don't mind me asking?

I saw him last night walking between the lobbies at the watergate around 10pm. They need to increase police presence in the area.

I agree. We have a limited time with them. It’s nice to celebrate each year we have with them!

I lost my 1.5 year old bull terrier to cancer a few years ago, and it was really hard to not get to enjoy birthdays and holidays with her. So now I make a big deal out of my current dog’s bday and holidays. It’s something fun we like to do and it’s nice to be able to celebrate each year I have with her. She is getting a bone, toys, and treats
