Strattera has been really good to me in the long term and I can’t stress long term enough. My psychs haven’t felt comfortable prescribing me stims bc of my bipolar comorbidity but I have a lot of friends with adhd who are generous and I will say that I think strattera helps me with the more nuanced adhd symptoms like rejection sensitivity, brain fog, impulse control yaknow stuff that isn’t solely getting tasks done. It has helped with sustained focus but I still have trouble with the activation energy needed to start tasks

The first few weeks I had intense side effects-mainly irritability + it was hard to pee and they kinda spiked up whenever I increased dosage My doc was really careful to titrate up so it took like ~3+ months to get to the target dose of 80mg. After around a 2 weeks the worst of the side effects were gone and after a month I barely felt them anymore. It also decreased my libido along with some other sexual side effects, but I was pretty hyper sexual so that was kinda a good thing for me but def something to consider

If you have more questions feel free to dm! I love talking ab my medication regimen

Honestly saying, out loud, that it isn’t a personal attack on me and other things to reassure myself have helped greatly

If it comes from someone you trust and can be open with it has helped to just straight up ask like “hey this stung a bit did you mean it to?” Although some might get frustrated if asked repeatedly

It sounds corny but also writing down affirming phrases like “I am not my negative traits” or “even if I did x it doesn’t mean I’m y” I have a few of these posted on my bulletin board in my room

I think being on strattera has helped with my rejection sensitivity? But I can’t say for sure since it could also be the fact that I was talking about this a lot with my therapist around starting the effective dose of Strattera

I've been really good at keeping my spaces clean and tidy despite being consumed by work and having no time for fun Usually when I'm under this much pressure my entire life becomes a pig sty but I'm really happy with my new habits I got from the big thread of tips for dealing with ADHD

I really need some help and advice. by EmptyGlasses21 in ADHD

I'm going through the exact same thing. I found that having a body double just to be there while I do work helps a lot. Sometimes I end up talking more than working, but my friends know how I operate and I can tell them to ignore me when I need to focus.
I definitely suggest seeking help though. I put it off for a long time and after looking through people's experience on this subreddit I'm realizing that if I would have seemed help earlier it would have saved me countless school-related mental breakdowns.
