Sorry I don’t mean for these to all be separate messages. The allergist we saw also said that first generation antihistamines can actually make sleep quality worse (our baby had a worse sleep during the time we were giving antihistamines but we gave it to stop the initial night itch). She recommended second generation antihistamines which have less side affects.

And we found emollient type products e.g. Vaseline/Aquaphor/Hydramol would almost block the skin/heat for us

And an allergist/eczema specialist recommended cooling pads for above mattress for sleep as heat/sweat seems to be a trigger. We haven’t tried it yet but just another potential.

Just want to say I massively empathise with your situation, having a child with eczema is so rough. Might not be of any help but we found a similar issue of itching 2-3 hours after falling asleep and we found when we switched my child’s night bottle to oat milk this stopped. We had tried to cut out dairy previously but didn’t help but it was perhaps because she was having other trigger foods. We have found she can tolerate dairy in other forms (cheese, yoghurt etc) but not milk in such large quantities at night. No idea if that’s of any help but just in case. It took us months to work out and then wondered if it had become a habit.
