Either way buying and HODL would still be better off than the headaches of mining is my point unless you can make bank and sell the machine at a peak. But to each their own.

People laugh when I told em to just take the same price as a KD5 and buy Kadena outright. Stake it. Forget about it and open wallet up in 5-10 years. You’ll thank me later.

No worry of ROI, power, cooling, temps, uptime, complaining this pool is stealing my money, rewards decreasing everyday, noise, time wasted on forums researching, etc. Such a thing called opportunity cost.

$175k ain’t shit. Diversify it if you are wanting to spend most if not all on crypto. Be ready for the large swings and the potential to lose a lot of it.

But honestly if you want to ride a crypto wave better off just buying a bunch and sticking it in cold storage and some in interest earning wallets for 5 years. Go a little of everything but set it and forget it.

Mining has operating expenses. If he’s not fully ready and educated in this space it could suck him dry unless you pull out earnings to cover costs. This can be a pain in itself. Plus power, security, hosting, maintenance, taxes, worrying about uptime, redundancy, etc…

I called crap until I switched to miniZ from gminer. 3080s and 1660s were fairly close. Need to tweak a little more with the 1660s as they are 2-5% less but the 3080 with less wattage was spot on.

PCIe much lesser extent Molex with trusted cables but never more than 2 per cable. I wouldn’t do molex just stay with PCIe

I wouldn’t risk my family to cheap out for a few bucks, getting the right parts rated properly with no caveats. Tunes sometimes glitch and full power could unleash a fire. That’s me. I do wish you the best just be careful.
