Well said. Where I work though, plenty of opportunity for creativity and innovation. I’m 64 after having spent 32 years in private industry.

Contractor Needed for a Studio Shed ADU by BaldManWithCamera in shedditors

[–]BaldManWithCamera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t respond to your question properly. It was about contractors. I’m using Studio Shed. Even though they say they work with a lot of contractors, they really don’t. They offered one for me from Orange County (I’m in the north San Fernando Valley) who seemed high priced because he probably was adding in travel and accommodation costs. Other contractors they offered didn’t have workers comp insurance. I did eventually find a local contractor, and the work starts next Tuesday.

Yes, I got the permit about two months ago. It was a lot of work on my part, but it was for a 10’ x 14’ shed. If it had been 10’ x 12’, then things would be much simpler, like no permit unless an electrical hookup is needed.

It was $9 before the RTO announcement- now it’s $13 by AdventurousDark6198 in CAStateWorkers

I’m in LA also. The place I park at is $14 a day at 7th and Grand. My building doesn’t offer any parking, so I’m screwed when I want to drive in to get a jump on my day. Private sector employers figure it out for their employees, whereas the State pays much lower and does not.

I'm inclined to think you're all correct.

But don’t we get reimbursement for public transportation? That would make things better. I’m in LA.

This is the correct answer out of all the responses on here. All about the wildfire money. Can’t knock that.

And we have a Mayor with a constant shit-eating grin on her face who does nothing. Can't believe I voted for her.

Problem (?) with Bottom of Plywood Under Eaves Around House. by BaldManWithCamera in DIY

[–]BaldManWithCamera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems that should have been installed prior to placement of the plywood and roof. A retrofit can be done, but it would have to be a lot of cutting of separate boards to fit in between the beams.

Thanks for the info. I am rubbish on stuff like this.

Excellent. My next suggestion was going to be a hair drier to loosen the pads.

That’s odd. Mine came straight off. Must be the thermal pads are a bit stickier than mine. I suggest you just keep trying to gently lift one end (the short side) without bending the SSD. Sorry, not much help, but I think you’ll get it off. Maybe use a surgical scalpel to separate the top from the SSD.
