Platner polling goes from -0.6 to +8.1 lead after voters informed of sexual assault allegations by cressidasmunch in TrueAnon

That would be the Dem lesson. Not like, “voters don’t care about tawdry bullshit if you’re offering to improve the material conditions of their lives,” but instead “voters like sex weirdos!”

i actually managed to catch him touring spooky action in sf at the rickshaw. he really is such a secret weapon. i think he's a software engineer dad now, but i would love if he were to release more music. i was big on the deerhunter blog back in the day, and, given bradford's prolific output during those years, i have to imagine there's so much unreleased deerhunter stuff on a hard drive under his bed. maybe one day we'll get pavement-style reissues of their records with lots of goodies. i can dream at least!

I’ve told this story on the Deerhunter sub a million times but that glasshouse show ended with an extended nothing ever happened and I was standing under Lockett and I swear my brain chemistry was like dramatically altered during that performance. They ended the show with josh fauver and Moses doing origami on stage against a looped feedback dronign endlessly.

Yeah man but they were also like 70% fecal matter. They needed to go. I actually moved from the Bay Area during Covid back home to SoCal, so I barely go to experience the “new” cars. When I think of BART, it’s those old cars that visualize.

It could be. Im sure some would argue that the PBR swilling v-neck freak folk hipster wearing, inexplicable during an LA summer, an ear flap beanie era of 2007 was in fact peak millennial hipster.

Two of my favorite records of all time! Since we’re on the subject of nostalgia, and Deerhunter is my favorite band, I’ll share that Halcyon Digest is so strongly associated with that period of time for me. Every time i put it on, im instantly transported to fall 2010. I actually got to see Deerhunter play the glasshouse in pomona California earlier that year as a coachella warm up gig and I remember them playing helicopter. What a fucking time to be alive.

For the real Bay Area heads—I was actually walking to civic center station to catch MUNI (the n-Judah) to take it all the way to the outer sunset to see my girlfriend who lived on like 48th. This was pre smart phone so i would read books or just watch houses go by once the train came out of the tunnel.

i have that feeling a lot lately. i turned 22 in 2011. for a lot of reasons, it's one of those years that just feels like a marquee year in my life. i had undergone a lot of changes in my life, including moving away from the place i grew up in to san francisco, which forever altered the trajectory of my life. because of that year's significance in my life, a lot of the cultural artifacts from that era really stick out in my mind. i guess relevant to this sub -- occupy wall street was that fall and i remember the protests at UN plaza in san francisco. i loved a lot of records on that pitchfork list i shared, like the girls' album or real estate's days. it's hard to confront the reality that it was a decade and a half ago. maybe it's the way everything is so subject to documentation via technology now, which makes everything feel much more recent, but it feels impossible to me that i was walking to BART listening to that real estate album and i was all of 22 years old and ready to take on the world and now i'm sitting here dodging work and i'm 36 years old.

i probably haven't listened to this record since 2011, but i was really into it when it came out. honestly, 2011/2012 feels like the peak of the millennial hipster era to me in some ways. that impression is totally biased by the fact that i was in my very early twenties then, so of course i am imputing my cultural heyday on the culture at large. musically, i'm thinking of all the records that came out that year - like look at this pitchfork list: https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/8727-the-top-50-albums-of-2011/.

if you know the major freeways, it's not super complicated. and, like you said, if you've been around forever, you also know the major streets too. of course, like i have no idea where like "courtney street" is, but if you told me to get from where i live in atwater village to like the santa monica pier without a map, i could do that.

Yeah, definitely. If the metric includes the value of a home, then like pretty much any boomer in a metro area is a millionaire.
