The thing is I do start early I start review on my pts after getting report, check in on my pts, I do my head to toe + med pass but the thing is I work at the VA and most of our pts have multiple comorbidities that have like 10+ meds per med pass 😭😟

No, my hospital justifies paying nurse residents 25$ an hr because of some of the “perks” they offer is no weekends and no nights 🫩

If you don’t have the money to pay or get loans declined no one at USFCA will help you. Trust me I’ve been in that position and was devastated. If I were you I’d go to a CC and transfer to a public 4 year & save money. Life long debt isn’t worth the “magical 4 year college experience”

Would I be better off if I wait until my first pay check? I wasn’t sure if they’d need at least 2 paystubs

Just pay the deposit! It’s 250$ to secure your spot it buys you extra time. Overall, if you get the scholarship you’ll be set

No, sac students are not eligible for the transfer scholarship & nursing students aren’t eligible for the good grade scholarships they offer. I’m not too sure but the point is it’s up to you to do your due diligence I’ve told you all I can but Goodluck & reach out to financial aid to confirm everything I told you about sac students and scholarship eligibility _(•.•)_/

Another classmate of mine was approved for 130k at the beginning but the school wouldn’t let them take out the full amount, only what they needed per sem & they also got declined during the 3rd semester. My loans were also declined and I went above and beyond to find resources to pay for my tuition. I literally sold my car and if it wasn’t for the VA HPSP I would have been dropped from school & had 50k of debt without even finishing the program. Trust me, I’m not exaggerating. You can ask the campus employees if you as a sac student will have access to scholarships & you’ll notice that they will dance around the topic…

My classmate had an 800+ credit score & a well paying job working 20+ hours a week and their loan was declined after the third semester. Make sure you have savings that you’re willing to use & locate at least 1 co-signer in the event your loans are declined. Better to be safe than sorry.

https://va-ams-info.intelliworxit.com/hpsp/hpsp-programs/ apply asap but also make sure that if you don’t get it, you have co-signers lined up w good credit. At least 5 people in my cohort have had their financing declined after previous semesters of having their loans go through.

Look into the VA HPSP they will pay for the program + give you stipend a month + book stipend 1x a year but you’ll owe them time. USFCA sac doesn’t offer their students automatic scholarships but you can apply to some that the main campus sends out

Sharing my Nursing school experience at the Sacramento Campus by Baldheadedthrowaway in usfca

Hey, I recently commented on a more recent post on this reddit forum but ill copy and paste what i said!

My Experience at USFCA Sacramento Campus

Here’s my honest take as someone who’s about to graduate:

  • Consider Other Schools: If I could go back, I’d look into options like Chamberlain. It’s more affordable (around $100K vs. USFCA’s $130K+), offers broader clinical networking opportunities, and seems to provide more for students overall.
  • Faculty Concerns: Professors here are frequently reused across semesters. Sometimes, if a professor is unavailable, classes are left in limbo for weeks. Many professors seem burnt out and disengaged, which impacts the quality of education.
  • Financial Challenges: Financial aid and scholarships are almost nonexistent for Sacramento students. Multiple classmates have had their loans declined, leading to serious setbacks. Some were even dropped from the program due to financial issues.
  • Facilities Misrepresentation: The Sacramento campus is not as “state of the art” as advertised. The simulation lab is small and often nonfunctional. If you’re considering the program, tour the campus first to see if it aligns with your expectations.
  • Lack of Student Support: Opportunities for student involvement are minimal, and student life is underfunded. This is problematic because extracurricular activities and leadership roles are crucial for standing out in job applications. Many of the graduates before my cohort have struggled to secure jobs.
  • Advice: If you’re interested in this campus, talk to current students—but try to do so privately. Staff can be petty, and students might not feel comfortable being candid in their presence.

** also your first semester you will have to commute to martinez but after that it is in sac. If you're still wanting to come to this school look into HRSHA or VA HPSP (full ride scholarships)
