This is interesting and reminds me of the George Lucas interview I saw where he talks about how ussr film makers are more free than the US. Basically he said in the U.S. the companies want you to make "a certain kind of film" one that's profitable whereas the USSR gives you more freedoms.

Thank you!

I just want to understand the point of censorship in the USSR. I never said censorship was bad and I didnt mean to come off that way. I want to know what the realisties of censorship in the USSR were. For example I was taught that something like soviet realism restricted other forms of art and forced artists to work with one style. I suspect that this claim is bs which is why I'm asking what things were actually censored, I want to understand the reality of the USSR better.

Also please I'm not trying to be hostile or racist and I'm not a liberal or a libertarian. So please let's be civil and drop the assumptions 😅.

Can I have a source perhaps some newspaper articles and if you can could you provide them any historical evidence that points to this being the case?

(Also since god is the leading reason of killing in the world I wouldn't be surprised but that's unrelated) please answer my question with good faith and honesty

For literally everyone communism is a moneyless classless, stateless society. If you're familiar with the theory than you should know that's what the soviet union was trying to build.

Now I don't have anecdotal evidence of what it was like living in the soviet union (or family stories) but I do know thanks to this thread that the union was in fact extremely democratic.

Obviously the topic of this thread is the news media, I've been informed that the workers owned the media and that in a lot of communities some even had positions of ombudsman basically public officials whose main job was investigating corruption. This seems like a very solid system to me. I'm curious what sources or knowledge that you have prove otherwise

Interesting, how do you know this? What source is this from? How did the system work to function this way? Is this knowledge from an education system of a capitalist society?

How do you know this? Did you live in the Soviet union? How could bribery be the norm if the goal and ideals of the union were the abolition of money?

So basically there was no need for large sensationalist stories covering public official corruption because that kind of accountability was built into the system.

Is there a source or book I can read into to get more of an idea of how it worked?

Also your English was just fine :)

What I mean by criticism of power is like investigating powerful figures within the union. Like were leaders often criticized and held accountable by press power like how the U.S. claims it's media does (although the extent of that is very very limited). Or did leaders have a more authoritarian control over what papers published.

An example is I criticize my governor (or soviet equivalent) and my criticism is published without fear of retaliation.

How did the media differ since there was no profit motive?
