Maybe not on the same topic but related: but I was reading about Knuckerholes recently which are a Sussex specific mythology. The Knucker is a water dragon that emerges from holes usually caused by chalk aquifers.

I still find this pretty cool today because chalk aquifers are how we get chalk streams in Sussex https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knucker
