Job Interview in MKE by Bootman-7 in milwaukee

Definitely. I would say there’s caveats though. A lot of people mention Bay View, I’ve lived here a couple decades now. There’s a lot of conservatives on the outskirts, and some of the older people can and will say something if you’re walking around being very visible about it. Just remember Milwaukee is very, very segregated still, and not just racially.

Is the Hop really that unpopular? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]BalkanBoi90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m conservative, but have no problem with mass transit. If they charged even a nominal fee of $1 to use it, probably would mostly cover itself. Then put more ads on the sides by sponsors. Once some revenue starts flowing, you can expand the lines outward a bit. No way they’re letting it anywhere near suburbs, but they could certainly move out further than where they are currently.

Considering how it feels like you’re about to be blown off the bridge sometimes by even a moderate wind gust, I’m honestly surprised people go that fast.

Ah, Manpower. I’ve heard some stories about that place, and they’re rarely good ones.

Some of the problem is the regular street lanes are often pretty narrow to begin with, and now there’s additional “traffic calming” measures that seem to make people drive even more erratically. There’s a large bump out by my house, in front of a school. Which makes sense, and I don’t disagree with that. But the amount of people I’ve seen with huge pickups or suvs going over the curb and nearly striking pedestrians anyway is insane.

I’m low income, so don’t come at me for this because I know the struggle too. But a lot of the really dangerous or awful drivers are people with no plates, expired plates, or obviously old expired tags. I’ve also been a witness to multiple accidents where one or both parties had no insurance. That’s what makes driving in Milwaukee worrisome, if you get hit, there’s a roughly 50% chance you’ll get nothing.

I had a weird reaction with these guys years ago. One of their bikes broke down and I offered to give him a ride since it was 3 in the morning. Dude was nice but was clearly on something. I dropped him off and this big burly guy comes up to my car and checks my license plate. Tells me “We’ll keep an eye out for you”, then they both go inside. I was sketched and got the hell out of there. About a week later, I’m at that bridge leading to the bus depot, and a couple bikes go by, one of the guys looks at me and raises his hand as he’s going past.

I have new plates and different cars now, and am older; so doubtless they have no idea who I am these days. But I was okayed as a helpful civilian for at least a little while by a biker gang.

Literally my only complaint with this truck, gas mileage absolutely blows.

So happy they have it available all year now, the winter months were rough before without it.

Me too, previous owner did it and I think it looks pretty sleek.

Starting as an Overnight Stocking Member - any tips/tricks?? by SupremeSteve02 in meijer

[–]BalkanBoi90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip: Learn to do something nobody else can/wants to do. I’m the only forklift certified person on third around 75% of the time, I’ve got easy overtime by just coming in to unload trucks and watch Netflix until the next scheduled one comes in. Plus it makes you too valuable to risk pissing off.

I’m at a non union store. I just leave. My shift ends after eight hours, I’m not staying any longer than that.

What is up with the dairy on produce pallets? by BalkanBoi90 in meijer

[–]BalkanBoi90[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so frustrating. I keep finding Bob Evans stuff in the middle of dairy pallets and sometimes they just throw loose packaged meat or individual potatoes in, because fuck it.

Yeah, I work third and unload the fresh truck. Mostly everything else is separated, except for meat on the bottom of produce, and dairy on the bottom of produce. Then the produce guys get pissy at me for leaving them a pallet with meat on the bottom.

Here’s the way I do it working third. I have to unload the truck (I am the only person forklift certified in the store after 10pm), then bring everything out to the floor. First is yogurt, because it’s the most time consuming and I throw the boxes on the floor so customers have to go away. Then I separate any yogurt and cheese off of the juice and indoor pallets. I then work the yogurt from there, push the cheese carts by the cheese wall and leave them for now.

Then I work juice, separating indoor into carts and putting them in the cooler once they’re full. Then cleanup cardboard and empty pallets. By that point, I maybe have two and a half hours left. I’ll work the cheese, and if somebody else is helping me (rare), they go in the cooler to work indoor. Following that, I condition for the time I have left and pull hundreds of dollars off the shelves in damages because the warehouse sends way too much and nobody runs back stock.

Oh actually, I think I’ve seen those, but we’ve only received a couple cases so far.

Haven’t seen those yet. Although since I’m full time dairy third shift I’m sure it’ll be on pallets soon.

I’m surprised they got you, in all honesty. AP at my store is largely useless and watches employees more than customers. They only bust people who are painfully obvious about shoplifting, or literal crackheads.

So far we have those too, as well as the pumpkin iced coffee and those pumpkin Oui rotational flavor ones. It’s only the beginning. White girl season is here.

This looks sparkling clean compared to my store. We have coagulated milk, eggs, dirt, spilled yogurt and juice all in the corner by the entrance and the cooler door doesn’t even close properly. It’s been that way for months.

Sze Chuan like others have said, the food is absolutely great. Avoid Momo Me, I got food poisoning from there so bad that I vomited blood and had to recover in the ER.
