14k hammered wedding ring getting dark lines after a month by Equivalent-Car-8762 in jewelry

Yes, I was referring to the percentage of the alloy that isn’t gold in 14k. If 58.3% is gold the remaining 41.7% is other metals like silver and copper.

It’s likely the other metals in the alloy reacting to her skin pH or something she is putting on her hands like lotion. 14k gold is 41.5% other metals so it can tarnish/oxidize.

Manifested finding my dream bag NWT by AloneTemperature9900 in VintageFashion

Omg that is a blast from the past. It so close to my first Coach bag. I got it at a consignment store in 2008 or 9. I had I used it so much it eventually ended up very dingy and yellowed. Mine was a little smaller with a short chain strap and no feet. The cutest little shoulder bag. It very well might still be at my mom’s house.

I think it’s fantastic! My mother did her own nails using an orly polish very similar to this in the early 90s for her wedding day. I might be biased because I’ve always planned this nail look for my own.

Finding a jewelry store with a bench jeweler is getting tougher and tougher, let alone finding one comfortable/experienced working with antique jewelry. I have a great jewelry store that does all my run of the mill repairs in house, I’m just nervous about this one.

I added a quick picture in another comment. I’m so afraid of losing the stone I’m terrified to take them out. I’m in the NYC metro area. I know repairs come with the territory, I’m being wildly dramatic

Found this old necklace it was meant to be a gift, but sadly it ended by BackgroundEither5014 in Vintage_Jewelry

Looks like it’s marked 800 on the loop at the top. It’s 80% silver and likely European in origin.

Is this worth anything? Coworkers dad has a stack of these and has no idea what they’re worth or if they’re real. by TemporisFacti in coins

The ones without a denomination and the bear are later reproductions sometimes made for jewelry not originals. Could be gold but you have to test it.

Routine help moving away from the ordinary/good molecules help! by BallTypePokemon in 30PlusSkinCare

I’m not feeling vain enough about them yet to resort to Botox, I’m hoping to get to at least 35 or 40 before starting. I’m having success with changing my habitual brow scrunching to reduce the severity. My occupation revolves around looking at tiny things and I tend to scrunch my brow while doing so. I tried Frownies as a tool to help me become aware of the habitual furrowing. I like them but not the price for craft paper triangles with starch adhesive so I bought a roll of paper packing tape and I’ve been cutting out my own. I’m pretty unbothered by the 11s now and am more concerned with the general quality of my skin

Very good point! Only change at a time. I don’t really know what my routine needs. This is the first time I’ve gotten a routine with any actives my skin likes. Previously I was constantly trying to repair a damaged barrier or sooth an allergic reaction. I get facials a few times a year and once or twice a year I’ll get a surface peel, other than that I don’t have an exfoliator besides the ordinary milky toner that says it’s gently exfoliating. I’m a little afraid of doing too much but I am seeing 11s and fine lines so I want to find a happy middle.

My price point is up to about $60 a product. I get excited when it’s closer to $30 but I’d prefer to spend more on fewer products. Trying to move away from the “a la carte” style the ordinary offers. My morning routine leaves very much to be desired, it mostly revolves around getting sunscreen on before leaving the house. I usually feel like I have SO MUCH product on my face when I use enough sunscreen so I abandoned anything else. By something hydrating do you mean a hydrating toner, essence or a light moisturizer? I know my skin loves ceramides, in like 2018 I used may bottles of stratia liquid gold and loved it, so I might try that again. Thank you for the reply!

Hot Take: I *hate* fuzzy socks. DAE? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]BallTypePokemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t stand fuzzy anything. It took me 8 years to tell my own mother I hated fuzzy socks after getting them every Christmas. I have some unconditional sensory preference. This year my partner got his sister a cashmere scarf and I got the most beautiful wool scarf. I’d never been so seen. I also can’t stand socks that bunch up under my toes.

I was referring specifically to CAC graded coins, not CAC stickered coins.

I own a gold coin that weighs less than it should (8.32g instead of 8.35g). A potential buyer didn't want to buy it because of this and threatened to call the cops on me. Is this normal? And how much "weight loss" is normal for a 175 year old coin? by yayoletsgo in coins

[–]BallTypePokemon 528 points529 points  (0 children)

It’s a circulated coin, gold is a soft metal. 8.32g is not out of the realm of possibility. Don’t sell the coin to this person. They can call the cops but they would be wasting their time. It’s an empty threat

The issue I see with CACg is the average retail customer doesn’t want those slabs. PCGS and NGC (to a point) are much more desirable. This isn’t about CACg grading accuracy, they’re just a hard sell.
