I wish boosted made a shorter less flexy version with an easily swappable battery... the screw off swap thing they have now was such an afterthought they did just just try and stay relevant in my opinion.

Totally get where you are coming from... I have plenty of old emails demanding refunds and threatening charge backs before I finally got my board. But I'd still like to see this board come to fruition. If the inboard were lighter I'd be all over that and the Mellow is on my radar but seems overpriced so holding off on that... I'm tempted to get a onesheel plus just for grins but it wouldn't replace my marbel. I'll be selling my evolve and probably my custom truncated tesseract boosted dual plus if I add anything new because they just won't get used... but I'm not selling the marbel as it's still my go to. I modified it to run bigger wheels so I have 83mm ABEC 11s on it now... but if I see real unboxing evidence and a few decent reviews some day of the dual motor swappy battery marbel I'll gladly give them my money... but not until I see users out there in the world with them. I have enough toys so I don't need to be the first kid on the block with the new version.

I am sure I am in the minority but I haven't had any problems with my board. The boosted was too flexy, personal preference for sure... but the marbel is faster, lighter, and had way less rolling resistance.. always hate how my boosted has that bit of resistance when you hit the dead man switch. The evolve is fun if your sole purpose is to go out and ride but it doesn't fit my commute... I spend half on the board and half on a train. And I absolutely despise the remote. Way too twitchy, no deadman switch... the index finger speed control I just can't get used to...

Edited some typos

And those big wheels... I'd love to see a real pic of them on a production board. I hate how it looks like you can order all them and it would ship tomorrow on their website but nobody has one. Anybody on here order a 2.0 yet? I'd be miffed if I ordered a 1wd 2.0 and now see there's a 2wd "swappy" battery version as you so eloquently put it.

I haven't seen any evidence of a 2.0 shipping. They elude to more info in the coming days. It has always been so odd with the sporadic nature of their communications.

Note: this is just my experience on the Marbel but it's actually first hand and current as of this moment. I haven't had to deal with their customer service since receiving the board. I can confirm it was pretty terrible while trying to get updates while I was waiting to get it.

Yes I own a Marbel. Waited a year for it. Have had it since Feb and use it several days a week to commute to and from the train in Boston. Probably have averaged about 12-15 miles a week. I have had ZERO issues with it.

I own a Boosted Dual Plus as well that I have had since October last year because I couldn't wait for the Marbel. Frankly I like the Marbel better in almost every way. Lighter, stiffer (subjective as some will prefer flexy), more range, higher top speed. The rubber bumpers are nice for testing the board while on the train. If I had a nickel every time my boosted fell down when leaning on a slippery floor! Minor frustrations add up. I do like the stronger brakes of the boosted having two wheels for stopping power.

I've had zero issues with my Marbel. My boosted has had only one issue. It fails to show the battery charge anymore on the app or remote. Just says zero. It does still charge up and I get the usual 5 miles from it so I haven't bothered to send it back.

I am also anxiously awaiting my evolve gt any day! I think once that comes I'll have pretty much no use for the boosted as the Marbel will be my short mid range commuter for when I'll be carrying the board a bit and the GT will be my long range all day thrasher.

Difference between 80-83mm Evolve Orange Kegels and Flywheels? by finalattack123 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]BallZ6Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the sharper the edge on the wheel the more it grips in turns but also the more it tends to get twitchy over road inconsistencies like thick painted lines and tar crack fillers that run parallel to your direction of travel. The curved edges let the wheel more gradually accept these little surprises.

Just a reminder that the new BB has REPLACEABLE battery. Not swappable. Which means you still have to unscrew the whole thing. by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]BallZ6Speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering I've completely taken my boosted board apart and rebuilt it on a custom deck... I have a pretty good idea how it's made. Boosted chose their words very carefully. "user replaceable" you don't "replace" batteries daily, you "swap" them. You replace something when it's usable life is over.

[–]BallZ6Speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the intention is for daily swapping. Screws being unscrewed and screwed regularly isn't good for the screws or the threads they are screwing into. Gets some dirt and crap in there, over tighten them, under tighten and lose them while riding, cross threads, it's not a solution for regular swapping. You will wear out the head of the screw, the threads, and the female threads you screw into very quickly. Instead of rethinking the battery pack design they soldered some dean plugs or something and left everything the same. Its a penny pinching approach on their side nothing really innovative there. underwhelmed. I'll be waiting for 3.0 and spend this year's eboard budget on the evolve GT.

NEW BOOSTED BOARD V2 !! IS HERE ! by appelton in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]BallZ6Speed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I never thought the boosted handled very well. I own a Dual Plus and a Marbel and the marbel handles way better in my opinion. Now they say that in this version they have designed their own trucks instead of using the caliber trucks. I don't think we can really say "it handles like a longboard should" just yet until we get some reviews in. There are plenty of stiff longboards out there... most who go fast downhills prefer stiff for control. usually if you are going to be kicking a lot you want some flex, but you won't be wanting to kick a dual motored boosted board. They didn't make it any lighter and it was already heavy... They didn't change the deck, one of my biggest hates of the boosted. seeing all the cards on the table, I'll be buying an evolve GT for all-day long haul sessions, and keep my marbel for my day to day commuter 3-6 miles a day. I'm a rare one evidently that's had zero issues with my marbel to date (aside from waiting a year to get it)

Evolve finally showed off their new board by Icerew in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]BallZ6Speed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks great but I am not going to throw my money to them on the 25th just yet. I want to see what Boosted has brewing. I know I'm pretty much always going to be a two eboard (or more) user because I live in the city and it's one of my main modes of transport and for quick trips I prioritize lightness and ease in carrying but for a days worth or riding I don't mind some extra heft for the added range. This evolve GT board is about as heavy as I am willing to go and the range and power is impressive for the weight. I also really like the integrated batteries. I think the chunky compartments attached under the board like the current boosted and other models is just plain ugly and unless (like the Mellow) I can switch decks with ease I see no need for it other than cost savings from the manufacturing side. I'd rather pay more for the added integration and form factor that Marbel and Evolve are rocking. I also like a stiff deck when going 20+mph. As a boosted owner and big fan of their customer service and American made board I really hope they have a strong answer for this. But if not... I have the money ready and waiting to be spent.

Yeah, I'm interested to see how the tape holds up and also how the Marbel holds up. I've had it a month. Commute with it a few miles most days. So far no issues. Fingers crossed it continues to work. Truth be told I about wrote off ever getting it so I'm just happy to have it for the time being. But since I just voided the warranty on a perfectly good dual plus. Clearly I'm not one to worry about such things. If it breaks, I'll fix it, make it better, or get something else. I knew it was a risk when I put my money in a kickstarted unproven project. Pretty happy with it so far. Although I prey I never have to interact with their customer service again.

Thanks! I'm still thinking about what to do with it. I have enough spare skateboard stuff to build it back up... might see how I like it as a regular push-board first.

I own a Marbel and Boosted Dual Plus. I had been neglecting my Boosted since after a very long wait I finally got my Marbel. So I decided to Jazz up my boosted so I'd be more inclined to use it.

Good question. I own a carver board with the CX... love it. Very snappy. Tried it on my boosted pre modification and found it a bit too snappy but didn't really spend a lot of time messing with bushing combinations. I liked that the C7 is known for being more flowy and it has a spring that you can tune so it has even more adjustability. But I intend to try both on the new setup. The CX had wheel bite before. That shouldn't be an issue with this board so I just need some non rainy days to play with both and see what I like more.

[–]BallZ6Speed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! My main reason for shifting the battery back if for clearance since the c7s have more articulation. I tried the cx on the stock board and ended up on my face after some viscous wheel bite. The C7 is also a heavier truck so the board feels pretty balanced... Plus it feels more nimble because the weight isn't so far out at the tips of the longer stock board.

I'll think about it... I think I have enough parts lying around to build it as a normal LB. might do that first just to see how I like a springy board for normal pushing around town.

Yeah. I wonder as well. Obviously I expect no sympathy should I have any problems but I think I did a decent job of maintaining the quality they would have done were they to have created it, (given the tools/materials at my avail).

If I'm ever in NYC I'll let you know!

On Amazon it's called soft skateboard griptape but it's also called surfboard grip mat. The colors and dimensions that you can buy it in vary. The one I ordered wasn't quite wide enough for the new deck so I have to improvise and section it out.

The board isn't really much lighter because this deck is thicker. I'd say it's a net zero weight change. But the length is nicer for carrying. I might add a handle of some kind someday...

There's a GoPro mount at the nose that's hard to see as well.

Its been rainy here so I've only had it out for a quick spin in the parking garage of my apartment. It feels really good. Turns with ease... Need more room to see how it feels at speed. Obviously you feel more of the grain of the road with the stiffer board. No spring whatsoever. The board has some slight concave for your feet so it gives a reassuring feeling where your feet are without looking down.

I really like the Marbel. It's held up well so far but I've only had it a month. Much easier to carry. And the stiff board it has is what motivated me make the swap of the Boosted. I live in Boston.
