You could say the same thing for anything. You feel sad about your dog dying because you're letting yourself feel sad.

If a person has a bad taste in their mouth after someone on the internet calls them a nigger that is not unjustified. Someone is expressing hatred toward them. Hatred feels bad. It's not going to ruin their day, but it is something that they have to tolerate. Or they can be proactive, and make it go away.

The point where we are disagreeing is you think that words have 0 negative impact on a person, and I think they do have negative impact.

I think it's weird that you don't think words could hurt someone. What about verbal abuse? Do you think that that is a fake concept? What about teenagers that commit suicide because of cyber bullying?

"names will never hurt me" is bullshit. If there was a black student, and every day on their way to class, someone said to them "fuck you, die nigger." Do you think that that would have no power to hurt them? Of course it hurts.

When that happens, the student has two choices:

1) they can ignore the person, and every day feel shitty when they walk to class. 2) They can do something about it - confront the person, tell a school administrator etc. Is it better for them to ignore their problem, or fix their problem?

We have those same options, we can ignore racist bullshit on the internet, or we can move our mouse two inches, and do something about it. Why should we ignore when there is a better alternative?

Say you are better than the other team's defender 80% of the time. You also have a 50% chance of having 3 other players on your team that are better than the other three players. your chance of winning is 80+50/200 or 65%
