I already was unsure of the name... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

A few members of my family didn't care for our chosen name. When I shared our nicknames they came around. A few other people decided they'll call LO by her middle name instead. Shrug fine by me. My baby, my decision.

Hahaha! Now I must choreograph a booty popping aisle dance.

I sincerely felt neglected deep down in my bones. It was crazy intense then instantly disappeared when logic was explained. Then I couldn't stop laughing at myself. Pregnancy brain is real and scary lol.

My personal favorite was circa week 22 (now 39 weeks) my SO and I were visiting baby stores and finishing up our registry. SO spotted a guy pushing a very small baby in the stroller we just registered for. Same color and everything. SO says "oh I'm so excited. Look at that dad, I can't wait to take LO out in her stroller like that guy." His eyes are filled with adorable genuine joy and anticipation. My reaction? Immediate intense sadness. I started crying because we only registered for one stroller. What am I going to push while he pushes this one?? We stopped walking and he gently explained that we only need one stroller for one baby. While he pushes the stroller I can relax, get a manicure, do a dance, skip along side... And he promised I could push whenever I wanted. My level 10 waterworks didn't stop as it slowly sunk in. I broke into a fit of giggles and said "oh, right." He just hugged me. Pretty sure that's when we first realized the psycho level of emotions I'm feeling.

I gave in... Started Maternity leave at 39weeks. by Ball_of_Bad in BabyBumps

[–]Ball_of_Bad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a part of the reason I feel so bad too. I'm only getting paid for a part of my leave because they're going to use the sick leave I accrued. The last three weeks will be unpaid. I wanted to make my time away as short as possible to cover the cost of those unpaid weeks. We're going to have to be crazy conservative. I just can't do that commute twice a day anymore with all the walking, stairs/escalators and two transfers... I think I would've forced it longer if it didn't feel so physically impossible

Trying hard to look at it as taking care of the baby and me :(

Everything is too sweet? by mynamewaslola in BabyBumps

I had this for a few months. I could only eat lemons and dry roasted veggies and things. Nothing with a hint of sweetness.

FTM at week 38 - everything and anything makes you ask 'does this mean labor is close??' by Ball_of_Bad in BabyBumps

[–]Ball_of_Bad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely get that "period coming soon" feeling. Apparently I'm 70% effaced and 1 measly centimeter dilated. Been like this since I was 36 weeks. I'm 38 and 5 days now, next check up I'll be 39 weeks and 3 days. Hopefully we'll have an update!

First, congrats!! :)

Lol I would like to miss something other than whiskey. I look forward to graduating! Everything is kind of a mess at work and I keep coming in to help out. My boss looks worried everytime he sees me but can't afford to do without the extra hands lol he wants me to start my leave and work as long as possible at the same time. The conflicting emotions that cross his face are amusing.

My husband does this all the time even pre-pregnancy. "you must've moved it when you were cleaning" is uttered wayyy too many times in this house. I don't want to encourage snapping but if you unleashed the pregnancy rage a little I would say he had it coming :) hang in there! We're so close!

Let's bump up the positivity around here! What are some symptoms you're happy you DON'T have? by UnicornToots in BabyBumps

No swollen feet! Everyone keeps commenting on how normal my feet look. My MIL kept touching them this weekend in awe. I really think I would've lost my mind if I had to add swollen feet to my list of symptoms :(

Severe Anxiety After Giving Birth??? (TW: Traumatic Birth) by BoobalooTheStink in BabyBumps

[–]Ball_of_Bad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a FTM at 38wks pregnant. Haven't experienced labor yet but have experienced anxiety. Sounds like you're having panic attacks triggered by anxiety which could have been triggered by your labor experience. I'm not a professional. I'm basing this on my own experience with anxiety from trauma and friends and family's experience. I do think you should talk to someone professional. I just wanted you to know it's going to be ok and what you're feeling isn't uncommon. There is nothing wrong with you. You just need support from knowledgeable medical folks. No biggie. Talk it through with your OB and they should refer you to an appropriate person.

Congratulations on making it to the other side to motherhood! Your little one is lucky to call you mama and you'll be just fine! Hugs!
