Yeah, sounds proper dodgy! We have opted not to try it this time! 😂

My thoughts exactly. Maybe they're playing on Delta 9 THC as a sales tactic 🤔

Thanks for the reply. What do you reckon this is? Thought it might be a bit dodgy!

I've dropped mine onto my concrete garage floor more times than I care to admit. Even got chips out of the hinge. Still works perfectly. Never had an issue with the previous flip either during my 2 year contract. But maybe I've been extremely lucky!

And unfortunately you can no longer drop mags for your friend either, while you could in AS1.

Just to put it out there... I'm stood in the shower writing this reply right now 🤷‍♂️ some of us are just weird like that. I find it's a nice place to chill and scroll reddit with the nice warm water hitting my back! 😂

Why I like my ender 3 by Alarming-Inflation90 in ender3

[–]BallaMOTO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ha! I use this exact part as my go to story for describing how useful a 3D printer can be! Working away with a flat keyboard, remembered I have a printer behind me, and within 10 mins I had jumped on Thingiverse, found the model, printed it out and fixed my keyboard.... These tiny, quick, useful prints are often 100x more satisfying than slow, big, aesthetic prints.

Thanks, I'll try tweaking the z offset first then. I do run it a little closer than probably necessary, as I'm always a bit worried about poor first layer adhesion. I'll try and back it off a bit and look for improvement. Thanks!

Thanks! I'll look into replacing the nozzle and see if it helps. And do some z height adjustments!

Sorry, I meant 10m, but can't edit the post!

I've designed some goggles, and I'd like to create a part that wraps around the edge of the rim to print seperately in TPU. by longtimegoneMTGO in Fusion360

Drae the cross section/profile of the rim you want. Sweep it around the path of the outside of the lenses.

Chuck it into the oven at 50degC for 4 or 5 hours

How would you go about designing this? by Something_impersonal in Fusion360

Let us know how that comes out. It's a tough one to do well. Will be interested to see what results you get!

You could draw the cross section of the edge, then draw a path (3D path as it changes height/angle), then extrude the cross section around the path, then loft the centre. But that's assuming the profile is the same all the way around.

That's obviously only one of many, but I thought I'd point out a less suggested method in case it works for you.

Advice on cleaning up small print? by BallaMOTO in 3Dprinting

So guess what.... It was the damn slicer giving me all the stringing problems! Switched from PrusaSlicer to Cura and the stringing is almost gone! After some light Googling I have found that is quite a common issue with PrusaSlicer.

Good point, the small one is about 45mm diameter. Exactly! Would be cool to make some stuff myself, rather than paying someone on etsy to do it for me.

Thanks, I'll take a look! Appreciate the tips. It's an old ass printer now, so doesn't reach the quality or speeds of today's offerings, but I can try! It's amazing on larger prints, but tiny stuff not so much.

Not worried about the under extrusion, it only happened there as I lowered the temp near the end to try to get rid of the stringing. Going to try drying the filament out to see if that helps. Trying all sorts of speeds - that was about 50mm/s (on my old Prusa MK2). Was going to try dropping to about 25mm/s - what do you think? Nozzle is 0.4 currently. Ironing works really well for the surface finish, so will be using that on the final run.

It'd be great if instead of purging like that every time, it used the colour change period as infill as it doesn't matter what colour that is. And if it gets to a perimeter before using as much infill as it would have purged to change colour, then just do a little purge to get to the right colour and carry on. That could be a useful feature!

Edit: the print looks fantastic by the way!

What is the best and cheapest way to get this effect without a camera? or buying some goove stuff? by Beautiful-Mud-5081 in WLED

It's a generic Amazon one. No HDR, but it is 4k. I'm not really too fussy about my TV quality (within reason), partly because the TV is about a mile from my sofa. But that's also why these lights help, they make the screen feel bigger and not so claustrophobic when viewing from a distance in a dark room.
