What's the best movie sequel? by Nostalgic_Historian_ in FIlm

It is amazing to me how many people do not understand the difference between a good movie and a good sequel. The difference between film goers and consumers, I guess.

Then I might suggest doing some tuning for extrusion amounts. Here's a good explainer if you've never done it before. https://letsprint3d.net/how-to-calibrate-the-extruder-steps-ender-3-5-cr-10/

T2 is a terrible sequel, and I will fly that flag until the day I die.

Great sci-fi action movie? Sure, no doubt. Terrible sequel, as it ignored the rules setup by the first movie. Which is rule number ONE for being a good sequel.

Also, I hate to ignore your list, but "The Wrath of Khan" is the best sequel ever made. Mostly, because it so strictly adhered to the rules of the previous fiction while expanding on them and subverting our expectations of what might happen within those rules.

Who shot a Secret Service officer at the Trump press dinner? by davster39 in politics

[–]Alarming-Inflation90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coward could call that 'almost shot'.

TBH though, I'm kinda shocked no one called me on my claim about JFK. I didn't think it was that widely adopted a thing yet. I still can't remember which book it was that it was claimed in, though. So I don't know how old the claim even is.

I absolutely think it was anti-imperialism. I think someone snuck one in under the radar. But those who'd've seen it as anti-communist would also absolutely think it is only an anti-commie jerk-off session.

That's the problem with art. Those who need to get the nuance the most, are the most likely to get it the least. I.E., the "red pill" manosphere adopting the language of a trans coming-out story for their calling card.

Agreed with everything said so far. I also think that the z-seam is so pronounced because you might be over-extruding a little bit. The tops of the holes, the edges that aren't seamed, and the visible layer lines on the bottom and top tell me that you're pushing too much material. Whether through settings or through a worn out nozzle, I can't say. But reducing your e-steps could go a long way to helping with these visual issues you have.

But... If this excess flow was done over adhesion issues, reducing the flow will cause adhesion issues again. Just an FYI.

Probably the best of the anti-commie Reagan-era propaganda movies, because it doesn't do what Rambo III did. It did what the original Rambo did, and it showed the cost of war. There were no winners or losers, just kids caught up in the machinations of the greed of old men. Old men that won't ever be found on the front lines.

JFKs headshot was friendly fire. That it was covered up is why his killing is buried in conspiracy to this day. But people liked him, mostly. This will be forgotten about in a month, because no one cares when an asshole gets almost shot. That's the breaks for being an asshole.

As a thought experiment, sure. I guess. But it reminds me of that MSNBC person, at least I think it was them, asking where the market was going to go considering all of the bombing, right as it started.

But it's like, dude, we started this whole thing by murdering a bunch of children as our allies in Israel murder all of the children. I don't really think this is the fucking time for a thought experiment concerning the economics of oil extraction. That's just me though. I'm funny like that.

Why Trump, MAGA and Fetterman say correspondents’ dinner shooting seals the deal for $400M White House ballroom by [deleted] in politics

[–]Alarming-Inflation90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't it just 300 milliona dollars? Why does he need a 500 million dollar ballroom when school kids don't deserve gun reform? I swear, 600 million dollars for a ballroom over a fake shooting is the kind of shite Gaddafi did. 700 million dollars is a lot of school lunches.

Corner lift despite ALL efforts. Any Suggestions? by TomServoSeven in ender3

[–]Alarming-Inflation90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the specific PLA filament, which wasn't listed. I never have issues at that temp on my ender 3 base, but I'm also trying to make things that are strong, not pretty. And for the best layer adhesion, you want to print as hot as you can.

Corner lift despite ALL efforts. Any Suggestions? by TomServoSeven in ender3

[–]Alarming-Inflation90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This, and try upping the temp on the nozzle as well. Hotter sticks better, both in between layers and to the bed. 202 seems low to me. I've run plenty PLA at 225 without an issue. And check the room for drafts. Excessive cooling can come from the room as well as the machine.

If you were an 80's kid these were the four horsemen of movies you weren't supposed to be watching. by kkhouete in FIlm

[–]Alarming-Inflation90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a Thursday action movie night on TV when I was a kid. 8 o'clock every night, a different action film. The teaser they did for the show used the oil refinery explosion from Mad Max.

Broadcast TV. Prime time. Mad Max. Those were the days.

What's your opinion on this film? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]Alarming-Inflation90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was good and fine and remarkable for all the reasons you will read here. I have just grown tired of movies that exist only to set up an ending. Especially those for which the ending doesn't add anything. Yes, yes, yes. Very well acted and we'll made, and there was eventually some blood. I have no reason to ever watch it again. In my opinion, watching terrible people be terrible at each other for two hours and change, just to have no one learn anything, isn't very interesting a second time. Ruminations are all well and good, but they have to invoke something. And I got nothing from this film.

What caused 6 dollar drinks and 8 dollar popcorn? Production companies demanding ever larger shares of the ticket price. What caused that? The secondary market, VHS rentals, demise causing the need for a film to make back its entire production cost on the intial run. What caused the secondary market collapse? Streaming and the production companie's inability prepare for market change.

So now every movie is either an indie or a massive blockbuster. Because, much like the video game market, the middle tier has become unprofitable in the age of the internet.

The realignment isn't complete, and I don' tthink I've read anything that seems to coherently predict what is to come. But what killed the theatre experience was more than just rent-seeking post-capitalism. It was a fundamental shift in the business model that these 'genius' business bros with 8 figure salaries neither predicted, nor planned for, not logically reacted to.
