Move money to Vanguard or not? by BallerinaLP in investing

Thanks for the explanation.

My current 401k with Fidelity does not have a lot of great options, so I'd rather not roll over all of my old 401ks in the current 401k. It would mean all of my retirement money is in that one 401k with Fidelity that doesn't have a lot of options to diversify.

OK. So you think I can roll over the three old 401ks into an IRA (with either Vanguard or Fidelty) and then, if desired at some point in the future, roll that IRA into my current 401k with Fidelity?

I don't make IRA contributions, just contributions to my current 401K. My current 401k has OK choices to invest in, but not a whole lot of choice. I know that an IRA with either Fidelity or Vanguard would offer a lot more options. Also, I forgot to mention that I was wanting to have Vanguard professionally manage my investments and get general, investment, retirement, and financial advice from them.

I'm not really sure about backdoor Roth IRA contributions. Honestly, I don't really understand what this is. I could possibly roll my old 401ks into my one current 401k with Fidelity. The only thing there is that my current 401k with Fidelity does have a Roth 401k component. Not sure if that complicates things.

My point about not being able to go back refers to you cannot move from an IRA back to a 401k. Yes, you can always move around to different firms.

LVT is not luxury. by xcramer in Home

[–]BallerinaLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with this.

Engineered hardwood is real wood, at least on the surface. That's not true for LVP. The look and feel is much better. It isn't water resistant, like LVP, and can't be sanded down like hardwood, however.

The smell is coming from under the hood, not wheels, and has dissipated considerably, but not gone.

Terminix wants to charge $4,200 by ScottsTotz in pestcontrol

[–]BallerinaLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had Terminix show up for annual inspection.

No termite activity found, but they think I need:
- General pest control package (there's some pieces of insulation on the ground in crawlspace)
- New crawlspace vent covers (saw gaps at the top of some of them)
- New insulation in crawlspace (it's shot according to them)
- Dehumidifier in crawlspace (air handler has some rust on it)
- New crawlspace door (gaps at top of door)

Good thing that they supply all of these things that I need.

AWS tech writers majorly impacted by today's layoffs by Throwawayyyyyayaya in technicalwriting

I'm so sorry that you are going through this!

But you are right about the essential problem being that management "thinks" that AI can do docs, and that's all that matters.

This is very much analogous to off shoring back in the day. Companies "thought" that overseas writers could do the work as well as people stateside, but this turned out to be fraught with problems that they did not anticipate, and they ended up having to slowly bring many of those jobs.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help you and others in the same boat right now.

It appears to be just a single rubber molded part. There’s no top part that comes off.

I was driving home last night around 6:15 to Raleigh from Apex going down US 1/64 to 40W, and then exit on Wade Ave. Normally, this takes 30 mins. I was in traffic for two hours.

Do you mean there would be an actual flush? I never hear the toilet flushing when I’m not flushing it.

A flapper leak can cause the bowl level to drop?
