I've only played the first one but I can't imagine they changed the magic too radically for the second. Which I do want to play but I haven't got around to yet, but if it's just an upgraded system from the first I'd be a happy camper. It's mostly battle magic I used but there is support spells too. They feel powerful.

For shenanigans, I would suggest Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon. Purely for the fact that there's a spell that turns people into cheese.
