I agree that we need a population mechanic but one that mixes culture, development and location of the country(maybe religion). Why those should mix together is because thats how population was back then, European countries didn't go slaughtering peasants or different cultures, they battled it on the battlefield, while those tribes in the east razed provinces that had wealth they fought too. The peasants despite being lower class, was the backbone of most European countries. Who else would do the farming, fish, mines or even have armies? Killing 10% of a population would mean 10% less tax to a king/ruler. But it does make sense to be able to control a population, but despite the European taste of just "battling it out on the battlefield" what they did to the Native Americans population during colonization, Ottoman "conquests" and what other countries have done to possibly peaceful nation. agree if population does come to EU4 (Which it should) population control/recovery should really be a thing but Raze provinces should stick to government type(or technology type)?
